Re: Partial charge on Intelligent Octopus
There's a message hidden away in the Octopus app - "VW Group brands : Audi, Skoda, SEAT, Cupra, Porsche, Volkswagen (status :ongoing) Some customers have an incomplete charging schedule and may not meet their target charge. While we work with VWG to fix this technical issue, we'd recommend manu...

Re: Service costs - they must be joking
"Having received an email reminding me that the 20,000 mile service is due, I rang to book in and requested a cost breakdown." The ID.3 Service Regime is every two years with no mileage limitation. https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-services/servicing-and-parts/service-plans/servic...

Re: Home charger recommendations
I had a Hypervolt installed a couple of weeks ago. Installation was straightforward and I set it up in a couple of minutes. I don't need scheduled charging yet but I tested it and it worked OK. The LED light modes are a bit gimmicky but fun. The app still needs some work but it's good enough as it i...

Re: ID3 advertised range.
Hi Dolgellau, welcome to the Forum. I hope you're not too disappointed with responses to your post regarding range. I'm sure you'll love the car anyway and you'll soon come to terms with its vagaries. There's lots of useful information posted on the Forum by members to help you. On the question of r...

Re: Granny Charger Charge Rate
It is but there is nothing normally on a domestic circuit that will draw 10amps typically for 10 or more hours continuously. The longest granny charge I have made is 16+ hours. An immesion heater is probably the biggest 13amp consumer. Heating water continuously for maybe 2 hours or so. Other domes...

Re: Granny Charger Charge Rate
I have no qualms about using a granny cable. I did so for a few months until I had a home charger installed last week (for convenience). There are possible safety issues but I rather think the warnings that cable suppliers give about old cabling and degraded sockets are to cover themselves in case o...

Re: Hello, Yet another Forum Newbie Joining
Hi all I collected my new ID3 yesterday and I am freaking out trying to watch all videos, donlowad apps and generally trying to connect it successfully to a charger :o I have downloaded ChargePlaceScotland, bppulse, zap-map, pod point and Shell Recharge. I don’t need a charge yet, but thought I wou...

Re: Car charging APPS
Zap-Map and ABRP are good but I don't always like their suggested charging points on my planned route. For long journeys my preferred app is WattsUP which displays all the charging points on a map of the route. It also gives an overview in a list showing the distance to each one. This makes it easy ...

Re: Standard led headlights
Gosh! Sorry, I was just making what I thought was a semi humorous comment referencing the generally accepted theory of choice-supportive bias. I didn't intend to imply that the bias would be exhibited by everyone. Nor did I think it deserved any response, to be honest.

Re: Standard led headlights
I think you'll find the standard lights more than adequate. Beware of 'choice-supportive bias' when you ask people's opinion (including mine!) of two options. Those who have matrix lights will extoll their virtues whereas those who opted for standard lights will say they are not worth the extra cost...

Re: Pod point installation cost
John, there are two grants available in Scotland - an OZEV grant of £350 and an Energy Savings Trust (EST) grant of £250. The installer applies for the OZEV grant and will deduct the £350 from the installation cost. The purchaser has to apply for the EST grant before installation, submitting a quote...

Re: Cannot engage drive or reverse
Back in July my dealer diagnosed the problem within a day. They ordered a new rocker switch which took eleven days to arrive. They were not happy with it though for a different reason and ordered another one. I had use of the car for a couple of weeks before going back in for the second replacement....

Re: General 2.3 OTA rollout to start
Pleased to say both parts installed without any problem. The first part arrived exactly two weeks after the email and second part a day later. I just pressed Install, locked the car and ignored it. One of the lucky ones, perhaps.

Re: Unexplained reduced range
I think the ID.3 calculates remaining range using relatively recent data. Why would it calculate the range based on driving circumstances of a month or a year ago? It must surely assume you're going to carry on driving as you were at the last calculation. I took my car up to the base of the highest ...

No, you need three. If you only have two, you don't which one is functioning properly. That's why planes normally have three.

Re: Heat pump being used or not?
I asked this question of my dealer after having had my car for a few days and not finding anything about it in the manual. He said it was automatic operation. Don't know about a 'not working' indicator. I read somewhere that the eNero draws about 1.75 kW with a heat pump and 5.5 kW with conventional...

Re: Boot catch
According to the manual, you shouldn't need to push:
"Close the tailgate
- Pull the tailgate down on the recessed grip in the interior trim → Fig. 1 with a swing so that it engages in the lock."
Works for me.

Re: Summer Range - How is everyone getting on?
In what we call summer here in Aberdeen I've been getting up to 4.7 around town and country roads. I've Just completed 510 mile journey from Aberdeen to Bristol. Starting at 100% charge from home, the first recharge point on my 'most optimistic' plan was reached with 175 miles completed and 28% left...

Re: We Connect and Lane Assist
I have to contend with cycle lanes on roads not designed for them which reduce the car lane width considerably. It's generally manageable except where there are pedestrian islands in the middle of the road, reducing the width even more and forcing me to cross into the cycle lane. It was quite discon...

Re: Can one retract the wing mirrors whilst driving at low speed
Yes, I do that for the very same reason. I reverse into the garage until the mirrors are close to the wall, retract them, reverse for a foot or so, then back to normal position.
