Re: Rain Sensor
Hi a.d.e. I've had an issue with my rain sensor, which I posted about here https://www.id3forums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2319 Long story short, my sensor wasn't bonded to the windscreen properly and there were air bubbles in the gel used to affix the sensor. I took it to the dealership who h...

Re: Solar + Battery thoughts
I found the best quote came from my "one man band" local company. Any issues I know he is just down the road. But get at least 3 quotes. I had ours installed over a year ago now and Covid, Putin etc have affected prices, but ours is 15x half cell 370w panels with Solaredge optimizers, Sola...

Re: Rain Sensor
Recently my wipers have been randomly operating where previously they would only operate when the sensor detected moisture. Sometimes they come on after going over some lumpy road. Looked at the sensor this arvo and it looks as if there's some condensation inside it. Not easy to see cos sun was brig...

Re: Charging schedule being ignored
Obviously reading the above it seems that the charging schedule is mostly broken at the moment, but has anyone got any advice for programming it if you haven't got a choice but to use it? I've got a dumb charger installed at home but really need to start taking advantage of bulbs EV tariff soon whi...

Re: Does in car scheduled charging work now?
Have charged to 100% no problem but not with a departure time set. Tried using this feature once but it's hit and miss. Best result came by setting several schedules in the car of around 1 to 1.5 hours rather than one covering the whole charge period, but now I've deleted all that and leave the sche...

Re: Random Question...
£40 is probably worth paying for not having to follow the Play School arrows before you get where you need to be.
Mind you SWMBO would argue that the £40 would be better spent on candles and soft furnishings (8-0)

Re: RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES UP ON MY DASH.. ( a shoe/boot with a star in a round circle )
Well I think I can answer my own question. According to the manual Forward Assist uses both the sensors low down and a camera high on the windscreen. It's supposed to be able to detect cars, bicycles and pedestrians, so unlikely that a piece of something being blown in front of a sensor has caused t...

Re: RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES UP ON MY DASH.. ( a shoe/boot with a star in a round circle )
Had this happen a few times now. I assume because something has blown in front of a sensor? First time it scared me witless. I'd slowed for people on a crossing, then as I accelerated afterwards the car slammed the anchors on. The other times have been when driving at normal speeds on open roads. Do...

Re: Newbie and worried about the bugs
By the time you get your car the software should be at latest version. A lot of the issues being raised here and on the FB groups etc will have gone/been replaced by something else 🤪 As another poster said very few people use social media to say how happy they are with their car/charger/dealer. If t...

Re: Octopus Go New Tariffs
The bubble has to burst at some point. There's no way they're buying electricity at the rate they're selling it. If you think they have a magic wand where have you been in the last few months? Wholesale prices have gone up astronomically. They can only be subsidised by their parent group for so long...

Re: Service plans
I was surprised when electronically signing paperwork before collecting my car a few weeks ago to find one referring to a service plan. I hadn't asked for one 7 months before and asked the dealer why? They said that VW now insist that new cars (just EVs?) are sold with one, there was no charge to me...

Re: Disable touch screen for cleaning
Well according to the manual ... Cleaning the screen Observe this checklist when cleaning the screen: The Infotainment system is switched off. Use a clean, soft cloth that is moistened with water. Or: use a cleaning cloth available from Volkswagen dealerships. In the case of stubborn dirt: Moisten d...

Re: Solar Panels
Since the demise of the FiT system I can't see any company wanting to finance panels. When it first started the FiT was 24p/KWh, index linked for 25 years. Good return for a few £k outlay. The punter gets the "free" electricity, the company gets 25 years index linked income. I believe the ...

Re: Solar Panels
Please check what I'm about to say as it may have changed due to the spring statement. Up until the spring statement if you installed both panels and a battery at the same time VAT was 5% on both. However, if like us, if you retro fitted a battery then VAT was 20%. I'm sure you are right. My instal...

Re: Do Overnight EV Tariffs Exist Anymore?
Not sure I understand your arithmetic. 8 hours of 7kw would take you from 0-100%. Assuming your diesel car probably has twice the range, are you saying you can go from vapour empty to completely full for £48? Are you using red diesel? Apart from that bear in mind that Octopus cheap rates are typical...

Re: Solar Panels
I guess it boils down to priorities. Do you buy an ev to save money on fuel or to be emission free and do your bit? I suspect for most of us it's a combination but which weighs more heavily? Same with PV/battery. Is payback in X years the principal concern? How do you even begin to work that out ove...
