Re: Service Reminder on id3 one year after inspection service

The service counter is a bit unreliable, it can be messed up by software updates as well as by the dealer. Mine went completely wrong and started warning me about an inspection 9 months early. I managed to persuade the dealer to reset it when the car was in for MOT, although it took quite a bit of p...

Re: 3.3 miles per kwh in morning, 5.3 miles per kwh in afternoon

have the car plugged in and set departure time with preheating - will at least stop the defrosting/ heating eating into battery. I think this works plugged in and air conditioning from the app as well. This makes the car more comfortable and helps range a tiny bit, but overall efficiency is lower b...

Re: 3.3 miles per kwh in morning, 5.3 miles per kwh in afternoon

On the way to work, it was -2 degrees so took around 5 mins to defrost car after a decing spray of the windscreen. On the way home, it was around 11 degrees, clear, dry, sunny. There is no great above sea level difference gain/loss on each journey so it's not like the journey home is downhill. 80% ...

Re: Hive charger scheduling results in red light

When the car is in charge immediately mode, it is expecting to charge immediately. If you set a schedule on the charger this prevents the car charging when it expects to receive power, so it often indicates an error. It is trying to tell you that charging isn't working, because it doesn't know that ...

Re: D Mode braking inconsistent

I usually drive in B mode because I thought the brakes in D mode seemed weak and you have to break more than you think. Does surprise me at times. I want to use D mode more so I think it’s something I need to get used to and more confident with. Hopefully those who prefer to drive in D mode will be...

Re: Skoda Enyaq One Month In

That’s a great update thanks. Does it feel much bigger or heavier to drive. I remember Sidehaas saying the ID.4 was noticeably different. The steering is light and lacks any feedback, but then, it's not the kind of car that requires that. It feels much quicker than the ID3, and it is. It isn't as e...

Re: Another ID.3 Newbie, ex Peugeot e-208

It's true that it's very simplistic. But ~6 miles driven and the battery level went down 0.77kwh, and yes it won't account for regen... It's still impressive. It does account for regen. The car's indicated consumption is usually pretty accurate, it doesn't account for any pre heating you have done ...

Re: Another ID.3 Newbie, ex Peugeot e-208

7.26 M/kWh? Holy moley. I thought the holy grail of efficiency was trying to get to 5 M/kWh? And I’m guessing that wouldn’t be in a VW. I have managed over 5 on a few low/middling speed journeys now. I agree that Tronity is inaccurate though, especially for shorter trips, and no one is ever getting...

Re: Another ID.3 Newbie, ex Peugeot e-208

After two short trips today, Trinity showed a 7.26 m/kWh today, which was nice. Don't rely on the accuracy of Tronity. It does a very simplistic calculation. 7.26 M/kWh? Holy moley. I thought the holy grail of efficiency was trying to get to 5 M/kWh? And I’m guessing that wouldn’t be in a VW. I hav...

Re: VW ID.3 Roof Bars

So if it is the case ID3 are not rated for roof things, why do I have screw holes for a roof thing in my ID3? I only saw them this weekend when showing a friend. Don't need it now, maybe not for a couple of years, but when I do my long trip to Greece (yes, driving all the way there :D) I will absol...

Re: Intelligent Octopus Go pricing.

As long as it is set up correctly then you will be charged at the low rate when the car is smart charging. However it's worth checking your bill the first time. The live app prices in the Octopus app don't reflect the correct price. If the Octopus app isn't showing the right tariff or if the car isn...

Hello When i refuel My second car (VW Golf) i "blip" my Mastercard. WERY Easy. When i charge my ID3 i must look for apps or charge-card. Whay so ?, We are year 2025 !!! You don't. As was said up thread, the vast majority of rapid chargers take contactless payment, and indeed this is now l...

Re: How do I charge at 11kw?

Are you certain the charger is 22kw? Check what others have commented on zapmap. Long shot but if it's a podpoint, note that they restrict the charge rate until after you have confirmed the charge in the app. (And some of them don't deliver what they say anyway). If you use the correct cable then it...

Glad you are enjoying the new car!
Just for the benefit of anyone wondering, the auto lock function and the new infotainment harder and software are all on new ID3s (and 4/5/7s) now as well.

Re: Changing Cards or 300 apps

TimF, I use the free version of ChargeFinder, it's served me very well so far, I've found it much better than ZapMap for example The apps I use are ChargeFinder, Electroverse and Tesla - these cover all of my requirements. Kudos to the Tesla app for being pretty decent for finding Tesla chargers fo...

Re: Octopus Intelligent Go intermittent issue

I’m now getting this issue with my Hypervolt. Can plug in, get an IO schedule but then when I unlock the charger it will charge straight away and won’t stop, that has been fairly normal in my experience however I then stop the charge naturally and then it won’t start at its scheduled time, last nig...

Welcome! I assume you have a Pro S - is it new or an older one? They are great cars, although I will say the VW dealer network can also be a bit hit and miss.

Re: Changing Cards or 300 apps

I take the same approach for rapid chargers as Batterydry500 - contactless payment via my phone, with electroverse and wecharge cards as a back up. Dead simple. For many AC chargers, and possibly for many Chargeplace Scotland rapid chargers, I think you need to use their app or card. Wecharge and El...

Re: ID3 or MG4

In an older 58kwh ID3 like mine, you can get up to 130kw in summer. However it's critical to plug in below 10-15% SoC and with a warm battery. If I drive a true 70mph on the motorway and then plug in below 10% I get 110-130kw in summer and 80-100kw in winter. If you tend to drive at 60mph it'll be ...
