Re: Cornering Light Message Fault

Not sure what the software situation is now. I was told it was 2 updates behind even though it had been in for a service late last year. They told me then it would take too long to do (2 days) so they couldn't fit it in at that point. Maybe that's what finally set the sound generator into meltdown?...

Re: Optimised battery use on/off

... If you are going to leave your car for long periods of time, ensure your big high voltage battery is around 50% charged and you won’t have any problems If only. Apparently, a couple of weeks counts as a "long time" where my car is concerned - even with optimised battery use (etc) enab...

Re: Advice for purchasing used

Brief update. Not much progression. I've asked for various info on 4+ cars - mainly infotainment system versions, recalls including battery recalls, battery health statistics. Only one dealer's gotten back to me and the battery stats were below a threshold I'd be comfortable with. Not feeling that ...

Have you checked the in-car shop? Ie, in the infotainment system? Not the website.

Re: App not working!

A few people on the facebook owner group have had this recently with 3yo cars. Have a look whether you can buy (for free) weconnect and weconnect plus in the in-car shop. Should solve it. I haven't heard of VW actually charging for contracts with an ID model yet.

Re: Octopus alternative tarrif

Looking at my latest bill it shows how much electricity charged at what tariff and also shows the average price/kWh. Last month it was 7.14 overnight, 28.17 during the day and average for the month 7.34 on 210.8 kWh. I think if you can use a battery to do all your importing overnight like that, Go/...

Re: Kayak

Lack of a roof rack is indeed a shortfall of the car. There is no way to transport a kayak. Unless you get the transport hitch on the back there is also no way to take bikes or extra luggage. My biggest regret about our ID3 (great as it is) is not optioning the transport hitch. A retrofit costs much...

Re: App not updating, asks me to buy a contract

Although theoretically you could have to pay for this, everyone I've seen with the same problem so for has found that it remained free to reinstate even after 3 years. Just go to the in car shop and download weconnect, then weconnect plus. My bet is it won't cost you anything.

Re: Advice for purchasing used

Will chat to some VW dealers today. Things I most want reassurance of is the infotainment version, whether any battery cells were replaced / need replacing, having a battery health check and options for warranty extensions. Some VW dealers might be unknowledgeable. If so, you can tell if an older c...

Re: Advice for purchasing used

We have a 71 reg Life PP and its been brilliant. Our VW dealer has also been very good and performed the 3.2 upgrade in 48 hours with an ID3 loaner. No battery problems and now the weather has warmed up a bit we are getting about the same range as when new. I think we will keep it another 2 years a...

Re: Advice for purchasing used

Hi all Been toying with the idea of buying an ID3 for years. Watched loads of youtube videos, and rented a '22 plate 'Life' for a long weekend. Aside from the usual gripes with interior quality and the infotainment system we absolutely loved our 3 days with it. We live in London and would mainly us...

Re: driver side window issue

Agree with what Big GT said (you don't need your foot on the brake the whole time, just to turn the car on). If it doesn't work first time, do it again and hold for a bit longer. I have always brought them back up at the end and held the switch for 10 seconds there too, but perhaps it isn't necessar...

Re: end of PCP/ missing items query

Good morning all I bought my ID3 Pro Performance in April 2021 on a 3-year PCP deal. I've decided to hand the car back rather than take the other options. As part of the inspection for damage etc, there is a charge for missing items. VWFS want to charge £354 for a missing charging lead, which they ...

Re: ID3 battery recall class/group action

The GOM isn't much of an indicator of battery health. It's more dependent on your driving style and heating. You may also be seeing the result of the mile/km conversion bug in the app. You'll only get a sensible idea of range by actually driving a long journey, but in the meantime, check if the car ...

Re: Charging very slow

Presumably this is AC charging so a rate of 4kw is less than 40% of the advertised 11kw? And VW are saying that's 'within tolerance'? Absolute charlatans - no wonder you are angry. 11kw is three phase only. Ironically I wouldn't be surprised if it'll charge happily at 11kw on the right charger, as ...

Did you hear a clunk?
Not so much a clunk, but loss of power when I first reached about 20mph after installing. Backed off the accelerator, pressed it again, and it was back to normal, No idea why it has to go through that process.
I had that after my 3.2 update at the dealer. Som...
