Re: Dashcams: Current preferred dashcam please?

Most of the submissions to the 'caught on dashcam'-type YouTube channels include info on each clip which identifies the dashcam make. Some of the submissions show video quality which is so poor - especially at night - that it would be virtually impossible to read a number plate, which makes them a b...

Re: Dashcams: Current preferred dashcam please?

I've never felt the need to connect my dashcams to the interweb or even my phone: if I want to store a video segment, I just remove the card and copy file to PC

If you watch any of the YouTube 'bad driving caught on dashcam' channels, you can get a very good idea of the all-important video quality

Re: please clean the parking sensors?

Rear parking sensors should be less likely to suffer stone damage, so the fault might be 'something else' but even then, out of warranty, either way you'll end up paying. I certainly wouldn't take it to my local stealership at their prices and so-so customer service - see if there's an independent V...

Re: Are all these issues normal

My experience of the loss of keyless access is that it occurs during prolonged spells of cold wet weather and is most likely to occur on cold mornings. I also notice that it often only affects the driver side door - which when I park at home is on the side facing the prevailing weather. To date, th...

Re: Incorrect range shown in App

Agree with sidehaas: it's not a problem, just indicative of the poor quality of the software/system. Perhaps VW should have asked Fujitsu to....er, wait.....scrub that thought eh?

Re: Incorrect range shown in App

Yes, problem persists on my car: if the car is fully-charged to its 80% target level, it will always show the incorrect range in the app. Disconnecting the car from the charger sometimes restores the correct mileage. If the car is not at its target charge level, app display is correct

Best app I've found for comprehensive real-time charger status is ChargeFinder (also works in non-UK). Try the web-based version on your PC - https://chargefinder.com/en

Re: Confused to hell and back.

Colleague has 2021 id3, exactly the same for her - no bug before 3.2 upgrade. But, I dunno, it could be nothing to do with the car's software version, could be just the app, given that it's often updated (but rarely - if ever - improved)

Re: Are all these issues normal

My car (built mid-2021) also suffers from selective intermittent amnesia, perhaps linked to the 3.2 update One night it decided to charge to 100% - impressive, because it takes multiple swipes/prods etc to do this either in the car or from the app. Then it often forgets that KESSY is supposed to let...

Re: Variable boot hight kit

Wireless charging is fine - unless you want to use your phone for navigation using Android Auto or CarPlay. The problem is that navigation requires a fair amount of processor power and the wireless charging struggles to keep up with the power usage. In addition - especially if your phone is in a cas...

Re: ID3 servicing.......... simply explained

If you sell the car via eg Motorway or WBAC etc, they ask for proof of servicing and will happily accept the dealer's paperwork/invoice. If you sell to any VAG dealer they can access the service record My local VW dealer would never, ever, even consider doing anything that they're not obliged to do ...

Re: Confused to hell and back.

Yes, the range bug in the app only appeared after the 3.2 update. As others have said, the car/app combination 'helpfully' translates the actual correct range in miles eg 180 miles (and that figure is what is displayed by the car when you start it) by assuming that this range is in units of km and, ...

Re: Travel Assist after 3.2 update

Thanks MotMot, much appreciated. Previously pressing TA did indeed set everything - distance (remembered from previous use) speed for ACC set at the car's speed when the TA button is pressed, and the lane keeping. So... at least I'm not going crazy, VW changed the behaviour of this with the update, ...

Travel Assist after 3.2 update

Had my iD3 for 2 years, update to 3.2 carried out - apparently successfully - a few weeks ago. With the aid of this forum I navigated the craziness of the S-PIN and 'purchasing' the various connectivity apps. All good then eh? Er..... Pre-3.2 I could engage Travel Assist with a single button press (...

Physical rotating dials for the driver and passenger climate control, with the centre of the dial controlling the heated seat (I had this arrangement in a previous car, wonderful)

Re: App issue!

Weirdly, the 'double conversion bug' only seems to bite when the car has charged to its limit. Just checked now, car at 60%, correct range showing, huh?

Just as well VW or their software subcontractors weren't offered the job of (insert your favourite doomsday scenario here)

Re: You currently have no contracts for mobile online services

As I've posted elsewhere, if VW are relying on the front-of-shop service people to explain this....lots of luck with that (at my dealership at least, yours might be better, a very low bar for that)

Re: App issue!

I've had multiple problems with the app since the car's 3.2 update. They've mostly resolved themselves, but one is persistent: the estimated range is showing as far too low and is inconsistent with the car's own estimate. Looking at the values, it looks like the app thinks the car's real range eg 20...

The Tesla app (mine's Android, I guess iOS is much the same) works very well - have used it for charging both in UK and EU, including the very, very convenient bank of chargers at Folkestone LeShuttle
