Re: App Not Working Again
I have never noticed an issue with my range on the app until yesterday. I haven’t opened the app for at least a few days so I couldn’t be certain when it started…my app updated on 8 May and it is possible it started after that. I now cannot see any range (in either percentage or distance) on my app...

Re: Battery replacement costs
I don't know where the figure of 10 years comes from. There are plenty of examples of electric cars that are older than this now, or that have run up 100s of thousands of miles. So if you do 10k miles per year it might last 20 or 30 years. It also depends how you charge it. If mainly at home to 80% ...

Charge at Preferred Times not working
My car has recently been updated to 3.2 and all seemed to go well. I have tried to start using the Charge at Prefererd Times function by creating a location for my home charger and setting the times to 0030-0430. I leave the car and toggle it from Charge Immediately to Charge at Preferred Times and ...

Re: Octopus Go and October Price Cap
Yes, it's an average. I'm on the 36/7.5 tariff and my last bill came in at 15p average, so well below the capped rate.

Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement
I would definitely wait for the 2.4 upgrade until 3.0 is being rolled out in the UK, to minimise the delay between the two for you.

Re: Software update 2.4 breaks charging locations
Had the same issue after our upgrade last week. This was a feature I relied on as we have Octopus Go and no way of controlling the charger so I now have to manually start the charge at 12.30 at night and set an alarm to wake me up to switch it off at 4.30am. I feel as though the car is no longer fit...

Re: Stored location disappeared
I had been using the stored location quite successfully to set preferred charging times, but since the 2.4 upgrade this week the stored locations just get erased each time you lock the car, so that's completely broken and I've no way of scheduling charging. I can't believe VW have actually broken a ...

Thanks for the reply. I will have to remember to alter the schedule in the car in October then when the clocks change!

Octopus Go Green timetable - BST or GMT?
We've moved successfully to Octopus Go Green but I've seen varying descriptions of the time window - either 12-30-4.30 or 1.30-5.30. I'm wondering if this is the difference between GMT and BST, but I can't find anything specific. Does anyone know definitively which it is!!?

Re: Road trip to france!
The Chargemap app does for mainland Europe what Zap Map does for the UK. France is covered with '22kW' chargers but these only provide 11kW for an ID3, and most need some local account and RFID card. Increasingly they are connected to WeCharge though, but still not fast. IONITY works well, and we've...

Re: EV Granny Aptiv lead red light
I've had this happen. It seems as though the granny charger carries out some sort of circuit test and decides if it's safe or not. I've had issues in places where the circuits were very old or not properly earthed. In any modern installation (house) it has worked fine. It's probably a good indicatio...

Re: 'Reduce charging current' option
If you have a 7kW home charger then this setting is probably irrelevant. I use it when charging with the granny charger - because at home I don't want to run 13A continuously all night through a standard plug circuit and when visiting the house in Spain because it only has a 16A supply for the whole...

Re: ID3 range-ometer just cannot be believed
Your experience echoes what many others have said, and across various makes of electric car too. I find the range-ometer to be very accurate, BUT there are some key aspects that need to be understood: The calculated range is based on previous driving efficiency. IF your last journey was at an averag...

Re: Charging etiquette - visiting people
My mother in law's neighbour has a PODPOINT and as they're good friends of hers, they insist that we use it and won't hear about payment. However I'm conscious that it's costing them a few quid each time, so we've taken to giving them a bottle of wine each time as a thank-you. You could even do the ...

Re: ionity and VW
Be careful in France though. IONITY there charges per minute, not per kWH, so you have to do some maths. The 50kW chargers are €0.39 per minute, so if you’re getting 50 then that’s better value with a direct credit card payment (IONITY app) than using the 45p WeCharge payment. The ultra-fast ones ar...

Yes, same problem. I’ve not been connected since Friday afternoon. Ah, I’ve had the same problem for the past few days. But, my UK car is currently in Spain so I wondered if it was a roaming thing… obviously not then. It doesn’t matter but the persistent error message that it gives is a bit annoyin...

Re: Since charge / long term data screen
Isn't it the real time consumption? The car is parked up and not charging. Looking at that screen, you appear to be sitting in the driver’s seat, so the car is ‘on’. It shows the outside temp is 14 degrees and the inside is set to 19 degrees. So that tells me that it’s currently consuming 1.1kWh/h ...

Has anyone used WeCharge in France?
I’ve registered for WeCharge and got the card and I can see that it will bring the cost of IONITY down in the UK from 69p to 45p per kWh which is good, but I can’t find any information about how this will work in Europe. In France for example, IONITY charges per minute rather than per kWh and I foun...

Recognising National speed restriction signs
I’ve noticed that the car camera will read speed limit signs, even temporary ones or variable speed limit ones, but it doesn’t recognise the National restrictions sign (white circle with black line diagonally) that often signifies going to 60 from a 30 zone around villages etc. Hence the car still t...

Re: Infotainment Swtiching Off when stepping out of vehicle
Yes, I see the same behaviour in mine - that’s how it’s designed to work. Presumably because there’s no ignition key, although I don’t fully understand what the on/off switch on the steering column really does.
