Re: Lists of Do’s - Don’ts
Use a public charger early. To gain self confidence in "how to" before you have to use one in earnest. This is sage advice. Compared to the familiar old 'lift a nozzle and squeeze the trigger', public EV charging can be a complete minefield of different sequences, payment options and the ...

Re: Unable to load connection status
I've just had this error for the first time in 7+ months of ownership. Interestingly the green light by the SOS button is still lighting up, which I understood to mean that mobile connectivity was functioning. But the infotainment is quite adamant that it isn't. I've done a ten second power button p...

Re: Service plans
Hi all Just an update. I sent an email to my dealer and he replied with a breakdown Pollen filter 64.05 Brake fluid 59.54 Inspection service 1.4 hours 237.31 Mot 54.85 Total with vat is 415.75 So he is saying it’s a 77.65 saving! Does anyone think that 237.31 for less than an hour and half work is ...

Re: Charge every night?
I typically do no more than 40 miles a day, but mine goes on charge every night. Partly because I like to know that I start every day with a full (well, 80% full) tank, just in case. But also in an attempt to build up the habit so I connect the charger as soon as I park up, which reduces the chance ...

Re: Service plans
The ID Family service plans seem to be a complete piss take.. basically twice the price of an ICE service. id family plan £340 for a £10 pollen filter, a £70 Brake Fluid change and a £55 MOT and a 'Service' which is what exactly? That is absolutely ridiculous. Given that there are almost zero consu...

Re: Octopus Go + Ohme
Yep, 100 miles in the four hour window is spot on. We have a similar setup, albeit with an Ohme go, and I always work on being able to get 100 miles of charge each night. As above, the actual range will depend on what sort of efficiency you're getting.

Re: Condensation and water droplets inside headlight
Just to confirm, my headlight has been replaced now.
There was no fuss with the dealers, they inspected the car, got approval from VW to carry out the replacement the next day, and I took the car back in as soon as they'd had the new headlight delivered.

Re: Charger Cable Storage
Aha, yes. My commando + Ohme go + hose hangar combo is a bit of an ugly brute, but it's mostly hidden behind a hedge! Are you thinking of mounting something in the carport, and just reeling up the last few metres of cable between uses? I need to take three loops of cable of my hose hangar to charge,...

Re: Charge Change in iD App ?
Crikey. No, it’s saying that if you have a location set then the settings for the location override the global settings. I agree it could be better phrased 😀 ermm.. im still perplexed :) Good practice for battery longevity is to only charge to 80% in all scenarios as the default, and charge to 100%...

Re: New ID3 disk brakes after 12k miles!
Absolutely agree that this seems like complete nonsense, coming from someone who simply does not understand how the car's braking system works. As others have said, both modes will use regenerative braking as the default, except in situations where greater braking force is required, then the mechani...

Re: New software update
I installed 2.3 some time ago, and the two small updates which immediately followed it (wecharge and user manual update, I think they were). This one could well have been something similar again, it was evidently just a minor update. The car was at the dealers recently for some warranty work, nothin...

New software update
A new software update notification appeared a couple of days ago. The notification helpfully indicated that this update includes: (blank!). I downloaded and installed it, it only took a few minutes so clearly wasn't anything major. I was on 2.3 already and have been for some time. This felt similar ...

Re: Ohme charger problem
For what it's worth, my Ohme go is now consistently charging correctly overnight, using the API, limiting to the 12.30 to 4.30am window using the >5p price cap setting. The charge rate does vary a lot during the charge, I've seen it drop down to 1kw and even tail off completely before restarting. Bu...

Re: ID3 Software Update v2.3
Hiya all, I’ve had my ID.3 for about 4 weeks or so now. When I got the car I had a notification to say that it was downloading an update. 500 miles on the click later and it doesn’t seem to be moving at all. I can only charge my car at lidle/Tesco/shopping mall as I can’t have a charge point put at...

Re: Front sensor issue
I’m constantly getting a “please clean front parking sensors” message, despite the sensors being scrupulously clean. One, however, does have a very small scratch - possibly a stone chip. Could this be the reason? Anyone else had the problem? Obviously this is a different issue to the one the OP was...

Ohme charger problem
Hi all. I'm having issues with my Ohme charger so would like to seek the collective wisdom of the forum! We've got an Ohme go, commando socket version, and are on Octopus go for our electricity. The Ohme app is set to restrict charging to only times where the cost is less than 5p, which up to now ha...

Re: ID3 Drum Brakes
I had a car dart out of a side road right in front of me a couple of weeks ago, it was a proper emergency braking job and the ID3 did a decent job on the anchors. I don't have any issues with the brake performance, but I do agree that the pedal feel could be better, and it takes a while to get used ...

Re: Front sensor issue
That does sound like the 2.3 software update might have started downloading. Do you see an option on the goodbye screen, to update the software? It can take a while to appear as there's quite a bit of data to download.
