Re: digital instrument cluster
Hi All, thought I'd add to the post to say the same thing happened to us (I think) today. Both the drivers display and the central display would go blank after displaying a few error messages. We left the car for a few hours but made no difference. Finally found this post and disconnected/reconnecte...

Re: Advice on getting car back from dealer - bricked update
Update: I got the car back yesterday. Nobody will admit anything but complained to EO on Monday and car was fixed by Friday after EO talked to dealer. EO said there are 3 levels of escalating a problem and the dealer hadn't escalated to the highest level. Once that was done the car was back with me ...

Re: Advice on getting car back from dealer - bricked update
Thanks for your suggestion Leccy. I’ve now had a call from the VW executive office who will be investigating the delay. This was in response to an email I sent them yesterday.

Advice on getting car back from dealer - bricked update
Hi Folks, apologies if this is a well trodden discussion - I've been away from the forums for a while. Our ID3 went into the dealer for an update a month ago and it failed on the reprogramming. The dealer says they are waiting for an unlock code from Germany, through the dealership head office in Mi...

Re: Lights issue.
Hi Kaygee, does your rain sensitive wash wipe work? Our car had a bracket that holds various sensors behind the rear-view-mirror come lose and the rain sensor didn’t work. Your daylight sensor may have suffered a similar problem and affect other sensors too?? The dealer cobbled a fix together at the...

Re: Viability of Road Trips in EVs?
Good to know about the Kingsley Shell garage, thanks. We topped up at the Strawberry Fields farm shop on the way back and that worked well, but only one station there.

Re: Viability of Road Trips in EVs?
On the subject of Ecotricity and Exeter... we had a poor experience with Exeter Services at the start of the last half term. When we arrived there were 6 people queuing to use the three charging stations and even then one of them was only delivering about 3kW. The good news is that we wrote to Exete...

Re: Alarm goes off at random
Our car's alarm went off at about 2:30 - 3:00 AM last night (again). This is the 3rd time in 2 months since we've had the car. On the previous 2 times we didn't take much notice of the time. My wife didn't record the exact time she had to turn the alarm off last night, but she was pretty sure it was...

Report: Faulty Rain Sensor - visit to dealer with software update
Hi all, Just thought I’d let you know about my rain sensor experience. The intermittent wash/wipe had not worked since new. It would wipe once when put into that mode, and then wouldn’t wipe again until I moved the wash/wipe stick again. The car went into the dealer on Monday and I got the car back ...

Re: Satnav and road sign assist freezing
I was told by my dealer that the reason the UK got 1st Max was to keep the sale price below the government grant threshold. i.e. VW weren't prepared to throw in the sunroof and HUD, etc for 1st buyers in the UK and keep the price below the £40k-ish of the grant level. I've no idea if this is the rea...

Re: Charging Point Locked - will not release
I've had this problem a number of times now and have had to resort to setting the "release when complete" setting in the car's user interface charging screen. It seems that if I'm charging and stop the session, then the plug is released. However, if I leave the car charging over night and ...

Re: UK First Edition £500 charging credit
In regard to getting the card... my dealer (Heritage Bristol) didn’t provide a card when I picked the car up. Once I’d had the car a couple of weeks I looked into the We Charge part of the app and signed up to the 2000kWh plan. It was only at that point that I was told a card would now be sent to me...

Re: I'm a bit worried about the range
[ EDITED TO ADD MORE DETAIL] I’m just on a trip from Bristol to Cornwall for the week and we’re getting a usable range of about 150-200 miles which is very dependent on driving style. If we travel at 70mph (agh-hum!) on the motorway then its more like 150. Leaving a 10% safety margin meant we had to...

Re: Alarm goes off at random
It’s happened to me three times too. Once over night at home and the other two times while it was parked on the street overnight.
There wasn’t anything happening around the car at the time except that one time there was heavy rain at the time.

Agreed. I thought it was a bug that it doesn’t light up, but on closer look it seems just not be illuminated.

Re: Wireless phone charger
The whole thing is as clear as mud it seems. I’m clinging on to the fact that the car actually has the charging icon embossed in the plastic of the phone holder, and the manual gave me the impression that it would only have the embossing if the feature was installed. Let’s see what happens with the ...

Re: Rain sensitive wash wipe not working
After posting this here I asked the dealer and they got back straight away to say that they thought it was a fault and I should book it in to be looked at.
I'll post back here when I've had it investigated.

Re: Wireless phone charger
Hmm. Thanks for the response. That seems to be at odds with what the dealer is saying. After posting the question I got a response from Heritage Bristol to say that it will be enabled when the first software update comes out. So, we'll see.

Wireless phone charger
Just wondering if anyone knows if the wireless phone charger should work - in the centre console between the front seats. I tried a bunch of different iPhones (in cases and without) but nothing seemed to happen. The manual is typically vague, saying that this feature is included in some vehicle spec...

Rain sensitive wash wipe not working
Anyone else having problems with their rain activated wash wipe. Mine wipes once when I turn it on then doesn't wipe at all - no matter how much rain falls on the windscreen. Tried changing the sensitivity switch on the stalk from lowest to highest to see if that gave it a nudge, but made no differe...
