Re: Dashcams: Current preferred dashcam please?
I have RS Connect coming out to install tomorrow on the drive. Expensive though at £138 inc VAT Good luck they made a total b***s up of mine and failed to return to take it all out, I had to pay another guy to install the camera and remove their failure, really poor customer service from RS Connect.

Re: Optimised battery use on/off
another observation, if I turn battery optimisation off over night, when I use the car the next day at some point during the next journey I get the " new settings are available ", I'd love to be able to see VW literature on logic of their software and what in their view the car is suppose...

Re: Podpoint and id3
Hello forum brains, I’m staying in Anglesey at the moment, the house has a podpoint solo with no attached cable but I’m have no luck charging. There is a physical key to turn the charger on. So I turn the key on and get a blue light. Connect the charge lead to the podpoint Connect the charge lead t...

Use a Thinkware Q800 Pro in both our electric cars, the ID3 is powered via the OBD plug as the one attempt at direct wiring via the fusebox failed to work. The OBD provides constant power so is good for parking monitoring.

Re: Horses for courses [Re: Home chargers
I like my Zappi, which is complicated, sizeable, and works with my regrettably few solar panels and the rest of the house. I chose one with a cable tethered, as part of it, since I don't mind having it hanging in a coil outside and don't want to keep dragging a cable out of the boot of the car and ...

Re: Bridgestone Turanza tyres and punctures.
Despite my Turanzas having done less than 6k miles, I invested £600 in Michelin Cross Climate 2 re-enforced version and ditched the Bridgestones.

Re: Unable to login as Primary user
The Moon is 238,855 miles away, when the Japanese moon lander vehicle failed, they managed to fix it remotely. My first car was a Mini, when it played up, a quick spray of WD40 or a moisture repellent and I was on my way. VW on the other hand do not appear to be able to build a reliable moveable com...

Re: Incorrect range reported in the App.
SO I am still getting this error and VW sent me the complicated 'fix' that hasn't worked, and eventually replied to claim 'We kindly inform you that according to our internal tools, the vehicle communicates and you should be able to have access to the services again". I get 80% charge equivale...

Re: New ID.3 Owner, family spec question
I've got a 2022 Family spec model with everything that is not on the one you are looking at, personally I would hang out and find one with everything, the split boot is useful, that is where I keep the cable out of the way, keyless entry is certainly useful and the reversing camera is well worth hav...

Re: General usability questions
Interesting about the need to press so many "buttons" to turn of Assist on the VW, my wifes Mokka e also has the assist system but it just requires a 4 second press of a physical button on the centre console to switch it off. So much more convenient than faffing around via the Infotainment...

Re: Charging to 100% at Home - Advice Please
I always switch the battery care button to off as well as use the 100% in the car and in the app, has always worked for me using a schedule controlled by the Hive app for the charger.

Re: We Charge Registration Problems
Thread resurrection….. I found out by chance how to resolve the problem at post #1 (no thanks to the We Connect team…..) Was using the VW app and selected Vehicle / Settings / Service Packages. The screen came up in German. Selected the globe symbol (top right) and clicked UK. The screen showed in ...

Re: 2023/24 INSURANCE RENEWAL PRICES
I have read that EV insurance premiums have pretty much doubled and I am fearing the same when mine comes up for renewal in a few weeks. My understanding is that it is mostly down to the much higher repair costs for EVs experienced by insurers and actually I find that credible. Repairs on the elect...

Currently BG/Hive seem to be throttling down the power for off peak charging, down from 7 kwh to just above 3 kwh, obviously I do not know who you are with.

Re: Charging locations & German logic?
It has nothing to do with the time of day. That is the top-level instruction you are giving the car (which you change by pressing on it): to charge immediately, to follow a schedule for the selected departure time, or to follow a schedule for the selected preferred times. Depending which you select...

Re: First year
I live in a rural area and above 80% of my driving is on B or unclassified roads where there are no lines or kerbs for the system to read therefore irrespective of the speed of the vehicle for the steering to want to take over is downright dangerous even more so if the road surface is greasy or icy....

Totally agree on software. You say “call home” and it goes “righto maximum cool cabin”; and you have to take your eyes off the road to sort out the mess. It keeps saying “tutorial” and repeating crap as though it is all your problem. The driver assist tries to push you into potholes and distracts y...

Re: Tyre recall timeframe?
Just replaced my low mileage Bridgestone Turanzas because two had thorns in the side and they are crap tyres that started with a lower depth than most others. Moved to Michelin Cross Climate2 XLs for £154 each, living up a very big and long hill, it made sense to move to all season tyres, time will ...
