Re: Dimples above each door

Hi All, I know that VW have said that installing a roof rack/bars is not permitted, but I noticed yesterday that there are 2 dimples in the top of the body work at each door location. What are these for if not for a roof rack? I'd heard this too, but I've also seen at least one ID.3 round here with...

Re: Zappi charging slowly

What's your ambient temperature when charging and could this have any impact? I've seen my own car (Cupra Born) drop below 7kW when charging to 100% when ambient temperatures drop significantly, although in my experience it needed to be well below zero to make a significant impact. For example, last...

Re: VW, you are costing me money every time I charge

If it's that important, there are plenty of other options for dual-rate charging that don't have any dependencies on the car. Mine is a simple "2am-6am, 10p/unit" rate, so I just make sure that I only charge the car then and job's a good 'un. Could always switch to something like this and ...

Re: Tyre wear

Cupra Born, Goodyear EfficientGrip 215/50R19 93T @ 8,900 miles:

4.8mm rear, 6.0mm front (lowest reading is in the centre groove)

No idea what they were at new, but clearly chomping through rears far more quickly than fronts.

Re: Charging KW

Yes, absolutely you'll see a slow down above 80%, even at relatively modest charge rates, and especially in cold weather - mine wouldn't sustain 7kW on AC when it was -5C outside!

Good example from my 58kWh Cupra Born from last week (about 10C ambient):

Re: Charging disappeared from app

Had the same happening today. Spent a good amount of time figuring out what i did wrong for it to disappear. Now its back again so guess they resolved the issue. Cupra one went belly up around lunchtime for an hour or two, before returning to service of its own accord. Back end was chucking errors,...

Re: New / Updated ID.3 to be revealed on 1st March

Interesting, especially the manufacturing plant. Does this mean that they'll have both Zwickau and Wolfsburg churning out EVs? If so, that can only be a good thing for future availability and a return to normal leadtimes (Max / Tour variants excepted, obvs ;-) )

Re: kW verses kWh

I wanted to gouge my eyes out when I read the other day of a charge rate being stated in units of "kWh/h"...

Oddly, I do get what they meant and it's not without merit, but the engineer in me was hungry for blood!

Baby ID.3 on its way - awww, bless.

https://www.carscoops.com/2023/02/shrun ... g-baby-ev/

If nothing else, it's fascinating the lengths that they go to for testing, with the new car's guts more or less entirely hidden under a slightly modified ID.3 shell.

Re: VW Empty Promises True Or False

It's a completely mad situation and you guys truly have the patience of saints. A friend has just (yesterday) ordered a new leased Born for his wife, and has been told "31st March, very latest" for delivery. How on earth can this be reconciled against what the Max and Tour owners here have...

Re: VW Empty Promises True Or False

Then when Russia invaded Ukraine in Feb 22 the Car manufacturers (VW, BMW and Porsche) lost 80% of the supply of wiring looms though incredibly by March 22 some factories in Ukraine had managed to continue manufacture and actually increase output due to demand but the impact was always going to be ...

Re: VW Empty Promises True Or False

For those still holding on, can I ask: why have you not cancelled? The ID3 is a nice car, but I wouldn't describe it as having any massive stand-out features in the current market. (Personally speaking, I cancelled my own ID.3 around 12mo ago when it became obvious that delivery dates were extremely...

Re: A warning about houses fuses

The fuse upgrade should be done free of charge by the DNO when they are notified (by your installer) that you have booked the install. This of course is if it is required. The installer should survey your property before contacting the DNO and the provide them with the correct information. Pretty s...

Re: A warning about houses fuses

I had a bit of a faff with mine. To get my charger installed, the installer insisted that I had a master isolator installed between the meter and the consumer unit(s). I paid for this to be done, and at the same time the chap doing it (Siemens, IIRC) said "oh, this is for an EV charger? Better ...

Re: Home Assistant integrations

Hi, daern Do you have any update on the integration that supports Born? Is this a branch of the we connect ID? Yeah, there's a very workable fork of the ID.3 integration working well for the Cupra Born. Latest version is here: https://github.com/alangibson/volkswagen_we_connect_id/tree/feature/cupr...

Have you or anyone else having problems with the integration basically timing out after a short period of time? I've noticed that everything is out of date usually within an hour and I have to reinitialise the integration again in order to see live data again. I've not seen it to this extent, but c...

Re: Post software V3.0 range…….

Wasn’t particular hilly etc Largely motorway My experience is that motorways are pretty much the worst thing for range, especially if you sit at or near the 70mph limit. Hilly, cross country routes much less so as the regeneration seems to do a pretty good job of recovering most of the energy used ...
