Re: Driving in icey conditions
As said above by Roybosh I don’t think rear wheel drive is an issue in the ID3 because it has a central centre of gravity. The significant weight of the car is an interesting one. Probably more planted on the flat but a little bit worrying downhill. The car has a lot of low end torque so you have to...

Re: Car shooting forward
I don't have especially large feet - but do find it quite easy to press the accelerator whilst pressing the brake! Likewise! There’s something about the pedals (at least the 1st edition ones) that seems a little off. Either brake size or pedal placement or gap. I’d be interested if the lady who has...

Re: Would you order another ID3?
I sold my ID3 and got a new Niro EV in September. I am really enjoying the car. Generally a bit more all round quality . I am interested in the new ID3 upgrade and hope VW can get a bit more quality and price competitive in this compact EV space. They are much needed. I don’t like Tesla’s and wouldn...

Re: Used EV Prices
My ID3 was very well put together. There was an ocassional rattle on a rear seat catch which I fixed.
The interior was designed to be fresh, fun and minimalist, not everyone's cup of tea, but that was the design.
it's a very good car.

Re: What Lays Ahead?
There’s no doubt that the early ID3’s on 0564 software were rushed out and were a mess.
However, since version 2.4 was installed the car has been pretty stable.
What remains are largely smaller glitches.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy the car.

Re: Used EV Prices
Looking at car depreciations for last year, before the Tesla price drop, it’s interesting that Tesla was by far the worst. Top 10 biggest depreciating used EVs 2022. Prices for used models 12 months old with 10k miles from Cap HPI Tesla Model 3 -23% Tesla Model S -22% Audi e-Tron -15% Jaguar I-Pace ...

The concern is also that there are varying firmware, hardware faults dotted around (along with software variation). These would require recall. Still unsure how much much brand damage has been done around this but they only have themselves to blame. A shame as we really need VW to be a solid founda...

This typically requires a control unit change.
I drove with the error for 3 weeks, on holiday, with no other effects.
I finally took it in as I was selling my car and wanted it ticketyboo!

Re: NOTES ON DRIVING AN ID3 ACROSS EUROPE
We drove from Yorkshire to the Switzerland border then holidayed in Germany about 18 months ago on our 58kw first edition. No problems at all. Used Ionity for all but a couple of charges. We felt on 130kph motorways that 110kph was the minimum that was safely comfortable, else we felt a bit too slow...

Re: Rapid charging with software 3.0
The new Niro EV has a relatively low max charging speed. But it does warm the battery optimally if you put a charger as a satnav destination.
Yesterday in Milton Keynes ionity at 0 degsC. Obv low SOC also helps!

Re: Driving on snow
I found my ID3 on 19” Contis to be pretty decent on snow. The exception being downhill when you could worryingly feel the chunky weight.
There have been quite a few posts on Speakev about getting tyre socks which seem to help quite a lot and aren’t that bad to put on…

Re: Battery and range
Tbh in my new Niro EV with its ‘fabled’ efficiency I am struggling to get over 3 mi/kWh on short runs right now, even a 30 mile round trip to the airport with heating on 21 degs C a fair amount of the time didn’t make 3! I’m of the opinion that’s just how these batteries are and you can wrap it in a...

My dealer gave me the key and said ‘farewell’!
Obviously check the type 2 cable and wheel lock nut and the charge level. I would ask for the bonnet to be popped and check fluid levels.
It would be good for them to demo the infotainment notably the satnav, heating/Demister and the charging screen.

Re: Lane Assist is downright dangerous
Not sure why anyone would doubt the integrity of the OP and their experiences, especially as these systems have been widely criticised for years. I certainly had a few uncomfortable incidents where I felt the system was potentially dangerous. It certainly needs some work (by all manufacturers) which...

Re: 1 year and 14,000 miles.Some thoughts.
Now at 18,000 miles and the software has finally defeated me...... Completely depressed reading about the V3 software roll out and have now decided that enough is enough. Have checked out the MG4, Megan e-tech and the Niro EV. MG 4 is excellent value for money but felt cheap compared to the ID.3. M...

Re: Advise for charging when arriving in Folkestone area via Eurotunnel / Le Shuttle
I think there are more chargers at Ionity Coquelles than on the UK side? If you have time I would charge there. I haven't used it as I didn't need a charge at or near the tunnel when I passed through, but have seen others report that they did so successfully, and it shows live on wecharge. No speci...
