Untethered charge points are in daily use, so they're hardly "not meant for a lot of use". Carefully clean the contacts in the cable, the car, and the charge point (isolate the latter).

Cables sometimes fail and can be readily bought.

Ensure they have the equipment needed to access the VW secured functions, including resetting the service indicator.

I have had both an included service and a piece of work under warranty since paying off my PCP.
