Re: Further updates after 3.7
I've had two of these OTA updates in the last few weeks. I wonder if they are satnav database updates rather than software? Nav updates automatically, you don't get any saying/notification. Check your "System Information" screen, your map version is there under "Navigation database:&...

Re: Software Version
Lazy main dealer.
Get them to update the car before delivery.
On that screen you will see "Software: 1751" once updated.
To see 3.2/3.7 version you need to click on the ID Software icon.

Re: ID3 Official Recall - Batteries
Good info. That image shows a really bad case though, I doubt many people are going to see any cells that far out (or else they would have been seeing pretty severe symptoms before). The bad cells are around 100mv down. In Johnny's case, if there was one person said a cell should be replaced and an...

Re: ID3 Official Recall - Batteries
How do I know if battery module replace has been done correctly. Dealer indicated two cells might need replacing but VW tech advised them to replace just one. They are marking their own homework so how do i know its not a 'cheap' fix but not best for me/the car? Dealer says they dont even know what...

Hi all. I have this enabled but can't figure out if it actually does anything worthwhile? I was wondering if anyone has noticed any benefits from this being on? Given the extremely limited functionality I think it's more beneficial leaving it off  https://www.vw-id3.com/activating_and_deac...

Re: Primary user
In the car go to settings and do the factory reset. This will delete the primary user and all their data from the car and remove the car from their account. The car will then let you login or create an account if you don’t have one. It’s not possible to rollback the software so don’t worry about los...

Re: Reversing and completely turned steering results in shocking driving
That's normal, you get that in many cars in varying effects. It's a combination of factors mainly steering geometry, tyre thread pattern/compound, temperature, slope, surface, etc. happens on full lock when reversing. Try reversing with a boxster in winter it feels like the front end jumps side to s...

Re: Replacement headlight unit - excessive cost!
That's the part (check exact part no. with dealer and order from ebay). Repair will cost you under 50 euro if you swap the unit yourself. Check this thread to see the damaged leds: https://forums.automobile-propre.com/topic/ballast-led-feux-de-jour-et-cligno-62673/ Comparing the matrix leds to a bul...

Re: Type of 12V battery
If the car was already on 2.4 then it has what VW calls an EFB+ battery, EFBs are just improved wet type batteries so use that setting on your CTEK. Btw no CTEK needed on EVs, that’s the beauty of the traction battery. You can just about see the EFB+ lettering on the battery if you undo the clips an...

Re: Further updates after 3.7
Do you know if it changes the longer number in system info in vehicle settings in the infotainment at all? Or is there any other way to tell if you have had the update? No, the software version in system information remains the same; 1751. The only control module that gets updated is the inverter; ...

Re: Battery Warranty Terms and conditions
All warranty is automatically void once insurance writes off the car. Could be a damaged wing, it doesn’t matter. The only way for warranty to be valid would be if VW themselves did the repair and subsequent inspection of the car but the cost would be so high that it would defeat the purpose of buyi...

Re: Shopped around for service - £244 from VW dealer
Your car should be on 3.7, call in before you you take it and ask if upgrade to 3.7 is included in the price of the service. Bare in mind the updates will take over 4hrs to install. These are OTA (Over the Air) updates meaning you can do them yourself. If you do not see the yellow warning "Upda...

Re: Supplied charge cable
So you have 3 variables: 1) car charge port 2) cable 3) zappi Plenty of EVs about (each one comes with a cable) and no shortage of charge points. It is easy to test different combinations, if all tests point to that cable, just get a new one (no amount of complaining will fix it if its past warranty).

Re: Swapping front a rear wheels for treadware
Related question - there are small plastic covers over the wheel nuts and a tool in the boot to pull them off with. Do they simply push back on ? There doesn't seem to be any 'click' so I feel like they will just vibrate their way off eventually. Feel like I'm missing something. Not missing anythin...

Re: Swapping front a rear wheels for treadware
I go down to the tyre shop where I get my tyres from.
It only costs 20 euros to get 4 tyres balanced/swapped. By the time I drink my coffee the car is ready.
They have a scissor lift with rubber pads, wheel balancing machine, air compressor, impact wrench, torque wrench, tyre inflator, etc. etc.

Re: Mirrors do not dip when reversing
Definitely included. Only the passenger mirror will dip (no need for driver mirror to dip as it's right next to you). You need to program it first. Use your the key you want the setting saved to, to unlock the car. Select reverse. Adjust passenger mirror. Select neutral. Switch off. Setting is saved...

Re: Swapping front a rear wheels for treadware
I swap/rebalance once there is a 1.5mm difference front to back.
I replace all 4 once they reach 1.6mm in the summer or 3mm in winter.
Swapping will not extend the life of the tyres but it means your 4 tyres have the same wear/age.

Re: V3.7 OTA Update takes 3½ *HOURS*
I did mine yesterday. Started at 12:15 - checked at 4:50 (210 min) and all was absolutely fine. I didn’t switch off the lights (didn’t see that message) just pressed update. Locked up and went in. The car was offline (widget on iPhone blank) for 2 hours. Totally smooth. No problems. Smattering of m...
