I can't say what the quality of these dash cams are, but they seem to be a great way of integrating the cam by utilising the wiper sensor for power:

Re: Biodegrading trim.
We've noticed this on our now 3 year old ID3. It seems that the black trim becomes dull after a while. I have thought about some sort of wax to see if it will become black but laziness (sorry, bad weather), has prevented me from attempting anything yet.

Re: Partial charge on Intelligent Octopus
There's a message hidden away in the Octopus app - "VW Group brands : Audi, Skoda, SEAT, Cupra, Porsche, Volkswagen (status :ongoing) Some customers have an incomplete charging schedule and may not meet their target charge. While we work with VWG to fix this technical issue, we'd recommend man...

Re: Launch editions?
I ordered a facelift model earlier in the year and was excited when the dealer told me it would arrive in a few weeks. When it arrived it was a 'Launch' version and the dealer wanted me to pay quite a bit more for it. I declined and now have a non launch version. I previously had a 1st Edition and ...

It does look like a lovely little car. Wife was very interested for when the children leave home and she doesn't need to take two tall teens onto school each morning. I agree that they seem to have really thought about the interior ambience.

Re: Phantom braking
In contrast to your experience I find the cruise control in the ID3 to be excellent. You are able to adjust the settings so that you don't have the car change speed automatically so it doesn't change speeds when it thinks there has been a change in speed limit, such as previous roadworks, etc. I don...

As sidehaas says, if you press the ok button in the centre you'll be able to move between long term, since charging, since start trip computer options. It is definitely not an obvious thing to do.

I'm not the only one then. Did nearly lose my phone when the wife decided to try and close the boot while I was using the handy shelf as a phone holder while changing shoes.

I don't think so, only when you turn the knob to the heated mirror position.

Re: Wild brake disc and pad replacement quote
Are you absolutely sure that you actually need discs and pads? The braking system, using regeneration initially and then the friction brakes if needed, should ensure a much longer disc and pad life than an ICE car. I wouldn't trust a VW dealership and their recommendation for a new brakes and pads.

I will have to have a little 'extreme braking' in the wife's ID3 when before we take it to MOT next month.

I would also say that you should get another garage to look at it before forking out any money for discs.

Pressing the ok button doesn't seem logical but once you know it it does make it much simpler to navigate the screen. Like you, I spent an age trying to work out how to get the trips to change.

Another driver delighted with the car. Wife's ID3 (leased) has been so good that she is wanting to buy one and keep it when lease ends in March. This Is the first car that she has ever said this.

There are a lot of posts on the forum about the recall. Any ID3 that originally cam with the 19" Goodyears have the tyres replaced FOC. Ours were replaced with Continentals.

Re: ACC Screen
You should be able to have the three screens in the small display - ACC on left, Speed in centre and Driving Data on right. As Big_GT has said you need to scroll fully left on the small screen using the steering wheel view button.

Re: Error - DSP Firmware and Mercury Update
I wonder if the software update was completed correctly by the garage. It seem like some sort of software download issue. Our ID3 was updated to 3.2 at the dealer ans there have been no errors at all (Car just over 2.5 years old so same age as yours.).

Re: 3.2 Update woes
Interesting that you got replacement Goodyears as I had only read about people being supplied Continentals (as we were). Perhaps they need to get the tyres replaced sooner rather than later and have gone elsewhere.
