Re: Tyre Wear

Today was supposedly the last day of a Costco Michelin tyre promo, so I went down to Gateshead to get a set of Primacy 4s, but the offer had been pulled early and will be on for the W/C 23 May 2022 apparently. I gored my rear right tyre on the sharpest kerb corner I've ever seen, reversing into the ...

VW’s own insurance were only £5 more than LV - they were very competitive and decent to deal with. Nearly went for them…
For a fiver, I would've done. They're (Zurich) not competitive for ne, nor are Direct line - you'll find some insurers seem to favour certain regions.

Re: Cost of insurance.

I’m with LV and switching on Tuesday from my Ateca 1.5 DSG xcellence lux to a Family Pro Performance is an extra £60 for the remaining 11 months including a £15 admin fee. LV policies for EV include free recovery to a charge point if you run out of power with affecting no claims. VW recovery (that ...

Just so people don’t get too excited hoping for MY 22.5, here’s the pic. There’s more but this is the best angle. https://i.ibb.co/qR2Df2g/F7-E97-D95-A814-43-EB-B263-793-C5-FAB32-DE.jpg How did you manage to get a picture of it? I called up the dealer to ask a few things (including whether it comes...

Re: Tyre inflating via 12v socket

If you have a slow puncture for such a long time.Do you not think you should pay the tyre repair garage a visit.Another tip for all owners new to tyre monitoring, the battery that powers this feature does need to be replaced and when coming to the end of its life , you will tend to get the tyre warn...

Re: Tyre inflating via 12v socket

Yes, you are missing something. You need to turn the ignition on and leave the keys in the car. You can then carry on with pumping up the tyres. I know I should check but does the included inflator reach the front wheels from the 12V socket in the boot? Yes it does. It'll reach every tyre from ther...

Re: Cost of insurance.

For what it's worth we were coming from a 1.6 petrol Astra (which we traded in) and a diesel VRS Octavia (still have); the ID3 is more expensive than either of them to insure. I was a bit surprised it was more than the Octavia but we are still only talking £400 for both of us on it. I think it's pr...

Re: Cost of insurance.

So many variables - age, location, no of years driving, convictions, NCD, mileage, whether you do work miles. We're with Admiral for our 2 ID3s and house on a multi cover policy and it was £759 for all 3 the cars were £225 each. Our house insurance went up £80 but as they contributed £1850 towards a...

Re: EV or PHEV short journeys

The same journey done repeatedly in an ICE car is going to be far more damaging because the engine will never get up to temperature which is going to increase wear. Not much of an issue with modern oils that don't need to warm up to be near optimum viscosity on ICE. Biggest ICE issues with short jo...

Re: Direct Comparison to the Cupra Born

It's a boost increase, but it only needs to be. Most higher powered variants of Golf GTI (like the clubsport and TCR) have a 10 second boost, but even with only 10 seconds of boost, you'll be up to 80/85mph from a standing start, plenty. Mmmm, makes sense. £800 extra on the list price though, so if...

....aaaaand just had a call from the lease company to tell me that they have a build week from the dealer and the car will be with me in July. Very, very happy indeed now and can't wait to get my mitts on it! Nice review here. He definitely likes it, especially the styling, but does say that he'd p...

Re: Brake Lights are distracting

Car slows down due to braking, brake lights come on.. Not sure what you consider dangerous about that. As you have already said, if you are having to over react to the lights, you're driving too close. But technically they are not braking they are decelerating, there is a difference. Its not about ...

Re: Do you follow VW advice on battery charging?

Here's VWs advise page https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/electric-and-hybrid/should-you-go-electric/servicing/battery-maintenance-and-waranty.html Maybe I shouldn't start this query, but £338.10? For checking cables? What? Yes, but don't forget that EV servicing is cheaper than ICE servicing as there...

Re: ID.3 facelift sketch

I wouldn't read much into those articles, it's all "ifs" and "maybes" conjecture, they don't really have a clue. That front end design is highly unlikely - the ACC sensor placed in a little frame at the lower front calance has been tried on the MK7 Golf - ACC was quite flaky with...

https://insideevs.com/news/584323/volkswagen-id3-gtx-dual-motor-2023/ Not sure if this has been shared before. A dual motor ID3 would be a lot of fun to drive. Their dates seem off - The ID3 was launched around Jul/Aug 2020, wasnt it? Unless Germany got it a year before other markets. I'm...

Re: Tyre Wear

Both 2022 arrivals, maybe VW have switched or Bridgestones in shorter supply recently?

Lucky you, the Bridgestones are poor, but they're so much worse on a FWD Golf or Polo for tramping, so the ID3's rear wheel drive does disguise some of their shortcomings.

Re: Do you follow VW advice on battery charging?

Care to quote the reg of the car so others are warned? To play devils advocate here, surely that's going to be part of the risk of buying a used EV in the future - not knowing if the previous owner charged it as "recommended" by the manufacturer? The only difference here is OP has admitte...

Re: Tyre Wear

Does anybody know what tyres are fitted on current deliveries? I don't know anyone here or elsewhere that got anything other than Bridgestones IF they have 18" wheels (steel or East Derrys), 19" is pot luck, but it's more often Contis than Goodyear or Bridgestones (Bridgestones 19" a...

Long Term resets also, so that would be your log for a trip. What is actually missing is the data for the Life of the car there is only the total mileage on the info screen. My long term hasn't reset yet after 3k miles. In my Skoda it resets all the long term data after 9999 miles, perhaps the ID3 ...

Re: Delivery time

Hi, 7 months since we ordered and still no build date. I have got some feedback recently though from dealer: No estimated date for build but said very likely it will be a 72 reg (unless further severe delays so 23), we had expected to get it around March 22 originally! As it didn't have a build dat...
