Re: Considering a trip in Spain? Charging advice

Will drive from Birmingham to Ayamonte and back in October with the M3 mostly using the SuperChargers so no worries Did a similar route in 2019 but then from Dublin via the UK, France, Belgium, north of the Netherlands to Ayamonte (over 6000km) but with the 24kWh Leaf. Mostly used Electromaps en Cha...

Re: Tesco free charging.with VW and useful tip with granny charger

I personally don't see any issue of using the Tesco chargers as long your still around and move on as soon as some one else wants to 'free load" (as called here) I'm from the time that the Ecotricity chargers were still free so I shouldn't use them too? Nonsense everywhere I park / go I look ar...

Re: please recommend me a charger

Wallpod is a Spanish company and made in Barcelona iIRC… not that it should matter. Also I think all chargers require an extra wire / sensor for switching on when solar is charging. It’s a sensor that goes on your electricity supply to measure how much surplus you are making from the panels - and w...

And the view counter goes up

Have given up on all those YouTubers and kept about 3 to watch as most if not all are so boring and most of them just repeating what others have done

Re: Tesco free charging.with VW and useful tip with granny charger

Be very careful of the max stay as I was stung years ago at an ASDA costing £60 when I charged for about 5 hours over night while sleeping in the car as was underway to Dublin with no Rapids around

Re: please recommend me a charger

Yes I was wrong ; single phase AC charging is indeed 7.4kW and 3 phase AC charging is 11kW AC on the ID.3 So yes the ID.3 will charge with 11kW max on either an 11kW or 22kW AC 3 phase charge posts But my discussion was actually about the fact that it's better to have 22kW charge posts then 11kW ch...

Re: please recommend me a charger

Good luck with the ID.3 on a 11kW AC 3 phase charger... It will only charge at max of 3.6kW (like the ID.3 45kWh); that's my point Glad my local councillor got it right and install lots of 22kW AC charger all over the borough this guarantees that single phase BEV with max 7.4kW can indeed charge at ...

Re: please recommend me a charger

22Kw AC chargers should be better IMHO Not much better. ID3 maxes out at 11kWh on AC. Disagree with that as indeed an ID.3, i3 or M3 (and others) do max 11kW on AC but a 22kW post will charge a single phase vehicle to max 7.4kW or 3.6kW (depending on the onboard AC charger) 16A - 3 phase AC 3 x 3.6...

Re: please recommend me a charger

Tell us how it goes. In my experience supermarkets have max stay times (1.5 hours aldi, 2 hours tesco, etx,) and 3amp charging, in which time you will probably only charge 10-20 miles Rgds That's what I told Pod Point that those 7Kw AC chargers are pointless as most people might be in the shop for ...

Re: Rear Tyre Wear

Rear wheel drive with high torque electric motors https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_motor and regenerative braking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regenerative_brake creates more wear of the tires Also some new BEV drivers like to race away from traffic lights putting even more stress on the tire...

ID.3 Fist Edition vs New

Well had a chat with a VW garage sales man about their VW ID.3 1st as I like that vehicle PCP was over £420 per month; bear in mind this is a used vehicle (probably demonstrator with I don't mind as you can't get a brand new 1st Me thinking that a lot of dosh so decided to hold on my 'old' Leaf (cos...

If memory seats are available are they linked to a profile? This is one of the features I really like about our Model 3, get in press the brake and a will be set on your profile (seats, drive settings, mirrors etc)

Re: Expensive home charge point

It all depend how much you want to charge. If it's just for topping off every night then why not use the shed power (if usable for long term load but that can a sparky check for you) with a charge box (granny charger) running say 10Amp max
If more charge is needed use the public charger
