Re: Optimised battery use on/off

... If you are going to leave your car for long periods of time, ensure your big high voltage battery is around 50% charged and you won’t have any problems If only. Apparently, a couple of weeks counts as a "long time" where my car is concerned - even with optimised battery use (etc) enab...

Re: Software Update

Yesterday, I didn't have any notification of an update*, but for several minutes there was a hiccup at around 20mph - car behaved as if I'd enabled "keep to the limit" and it had spotted a 20mph sign. Push on the right pedal and it accelerated past 30kph OK. My passenger didn't notice anyt...

OBDeleven data on 12V battery

Hi, I recently bought an OBDeleven - base model, no credits / plan - and am getting used to it. At the moment, my primary interest is in the 12V battery and related systems. The app provides "Live Data" for this, but it's not clear whether the reported battery current is into or out of the...

Re: Keyless Entry Stopped Working

Finally, some progress with keylesslessness. The workshop had the car in three times last year where this was investigated. The first time while in for the 400V check and V2 to V3 update, second while in for first service, third in November specifically to look into this issue. They did finally see ...

Re: Optimised battery use on/off

If the 12V battery runs flat the car has a fault, I'm sure about that. According to my local workshop, the fault which flattens the 12V battery lies purely with a malfunctioning owner. I quote: "the 12V battery is only charged WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING" (my emphasis). Also: "you don't d...

Re: Optimised battery use on/off

Interesting, thanks. I know there were significant 12V problems in early ID3s and that when 2.0 (I think - might have been 2.1) came along it was supposed to have resolved the issue by automatically topping up the 12V from the main battery. The problems certainly became far less frequent. The expla...

Re: Locked out

I suffer with this. I’ve identified it’s when it’s cold outside and the key fob /sensor then fails to work if it’s been on your person outside for a period . I’ve spoken to VW and apparently it’s an issue ! Warm it in your hand for a short period and it will start working . I don't think that's an ...

Re: Locked out

And again this morning. But this time I managed to get in through the door using the mechanical key (once the boot had been opened), at which the dashboard and infotainment fired up, but the wing mirrors stayed folded. Also new this time: the infotainment briefly flashed a message about low 12V batt...

Re: Locked out

It did it again! This time, getting in through the boot* then pressing various buttons finally woke up the car, but it took quite a while. Park seemed to be the one which did the trick. Hazards, horn and a couple of others were functional, but did not have any other effect. I tried the app, which cl...

Re: If you could have ONE feature

Ever driven in Holland? Their speed signs on motorways often have 2 limits (side by side). One is for mainly daytime driving, the other for the night. How would any car system sort that one out? I havnen't driven in Holland. Simple answer to second question is that it would require a good-quality A...

Re: Locked out

My understanding is the car charges the 12V as soon as a door is opened if a charge is required. There ought to be an arrangement whereby 12V dropping below the minimum needed to service all the drains on this battery while the car is parked, automatically triggers a charge from the HV battery? The...

Re: Locked out

Thanks for all the help and advice. I've dug out the "Price and specification guide" sales brochure, which confirms roadside cover is for 3 years. Studidly, I'd forgotten about this, and simply rang the dealer as my usual first point of contact with any problem. I'll know better in future!...

Re: Locked out

Just had a quick look and roadside recovery for id range is 3 years, so you should still be covered - I'd phone customer service and see what they say. See link https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-services/servicing-and-parts/breakdown-and-repairs/roadside-assistance.html Thanks. Since I hav...

Re: Locked out

Maybe a 12V battery issue? That was my bright idea over lunch. Having double-checked that the boot only unlocked if the key was nearby, and that it was still the case that no door unlock system was operating, I climbed in again so that I could release the bonnet and check the 12V battery. But the b...

Locked out

Any ideas on this one? The car will not unlock. Doesn't react to keyless sensor. Doesn't do anything when keyfob buttons pressed (both fobs tried, repeatedly). The mechanical emergency key doesn't do anything. The car DOES detect the keyfobs, as the boot can be opened. I climbed in through it and al...
