if in doubt, turn it off and back on?
We're not long back from a 1000 miles around UK, lots of learning - particularly about public chargers! Leaving a car park in Carlisle, the infotainment screen suddenly went blank. I needed to reverse, and the rear-view duly appeared. Back into forward and the infotainment screen reappeared, but had...

Re: Software 3.1
Exchanged emails yesterday with our dealer (car bought October 2021) on something else, and mentioned update as meaning we might see him again soon. He didn't comment!!!

Re: Climate & miles efficiency
When I plug in the charger the cooling fan comes on Is that because the charge controller is also able to manage the air conditioning, including achieving a target temp at target end-of-charge time? My WeConnect app certainly does that, overriding whatever I might have set in the car. WeConnect doe...

Re: One Quarter of UK Tesla Supercharger sites open to non-Tesla vehicles from today
I don't know if there's a press release somewhere with full info - if there is I couldn't persuade Google to find it. Several reports state that only 15 of the 158 Supercharger stations are non-Tesla enabled, but most don't say which. I found a report with 14 locations: Folkestone, Grays, Uxbridge, ...

Re: Brake Lights are distracting
Yes TimF, with real maths https://www.id3forums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=298&p=1056#p1056 Thanks. So the system must show brake lights for a deceleration above 4mph/s, must not for one below 2mph/s. (I find it difficult to think of road speeds in terms of m/s!) I think that means they'll c...

Re: Cost of insurance.
My previous insurer (NFU Mutual) quoted what seemed a LOT, so I looked at other companies which were Which? recommended. Ended up with LV, whose policy looks fine, and premium was very competitive. No problems transferring over a protected NCD.

Re: Brake Lights are distracting
Can someone clarify a point? Whatever mode the car is in, do the brake lights only come on if the car is actively slowing down? Put another way, does simply maintaining speed on a downslope count as "braking"? Does reducing pedal pressure on an upslope which slows the car even though the m...

Re: Software 2.4 rollout delayed
I've always been update-averse, generally waiting for SP1 for various editions of Windoze to make the change. No matter how much testing is done by the development team, even beta testing with helpful consumers won't uncover all the possibilities for interactions and combinations / sequences of inpu...

Re: RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES UP ON MY DASH.. ( a shoe/boot with a star in a round circle )
... Like I said, I've had the warning come up a couple of times. Both times it was in valid circumstances due to the way I was driving. In reality there was no collision risk and I could take the decision to reduce the system sensitivity - but actually I'm happy with the minimal effect on me of two...

Re: RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES UP ON MY DASH.. ( a shoe/boot with a star in a round circle )
In my opinion, the Frontal Assist YOU'RE ABOUT TO CRASH INTO SOMETHING shows just how far artificial intelligence / machine learning needs to advance before fully-autonomous vehicles will be common on our roads. This feature as delivered should not be set up such that users feel a need to adjust its...

Re: Don’t buy an Ohme Charger
My Ohme Home Pro (installed by third-party, which seems to be standard, as Ohme don't have an installation workforce?) appears to be a reasonable piece of kit. Ohme's support is not. Re: Passenger side mirror when reversing
I use this feature, but find it far too easy to twist the knob too far (or for too long), which makes both mirrors fold away. So I then need to twist it the other way to get them back and start again.

Re: D mode B mode and the motorway
My driving habit has always been to use engine braking, so I find B mode means the car responds to right-pedal pressure/release in a familiar way. But I'm sure some people find that behaviour disconcerting.

Re: For those with Ohme charger.
When this change was announced (email received March 10), I was eager to get going with it, so that the charger would have car-verified data about charge state instead of assuming 0% start 100% finished. But the Ohme app stubornly refused to accept my VW login. I told Ohme, got an immediate automate...

Re: Does the ID3 have a speed limit warning alarm sounder ?
There's a big number display which indicates how fast you are going constantly. How did you manage to stick to the speed limit in previous cars? I'm still getting used to a digital speedo. What I'm trying to do is be aware in peripheral vision of the first digit, and not to spend too much time chec...

Here's the Google translation: ... We are in your ID. we will install a new 12-volt battery with more advanced technology. Due to the lower internal resistance and better electrolyte performance, this battery is even more durable and long lasting. ... Being a cynic, I translate that as "this b...

Re: For those with Ohme charger.
... As well as the cable connection, both charger and car have wireless communication facilities (WiFi and 4G), yet the only way for them to communicate data such as SoC is via the two companies' servers? That's nuts! Not at all, it's actually considerably more elegant, less prone to failure, more ...

Re: For those with Ohme charger.
Let me get this straight. It's not possible to communicate between charger and car over the cable except when using the DC connection. OK, that's what happens when an early standard proves incapable of enhancement (a Wikipedia page suggests an extension for Type 2 AC was proposed a decade back, but ...
