Re: Software 3.0 updating now

On a long journey (>50 miles), sat ion the motorway doing 74mph, until I've done 30 miles, i'll barely crack 3 miles per kWh at 10C, and then start to improve to 3.5 miles per kWh. Same drive at 20C, the car will be up at 3.2 miles per kWh within 5 miles and drift up towards 3.8 miles per kWh. Bear...

Coming up to 1.5 years with the ID3

Still pretty clear for me and my wife that the ID3 is the best car we have ever had. Not the best in most categories - except acceleration and space - but overall the sum of the parts still have us calling it Car 2.0 I didn't buy the car for any ideological reasons. I am a geek, my last car was gett...

Re: New Tyre recommendations

My car was delivered in July 2021, and one front and one rear type had a puncture during the snow and ice conditions in the last few weeks. Unfortunately I had to get tyres quickly so couldn't wait for the special Eco Bridgestone Enlighten that it came with and put on some normal "B" eco r...

Re: A few issues for a Newbie Owner - Battery Lights Pre-Heat

Hi - Had mine 2 weeks now and I'm working my way through how it all works. Todays issue is its cold out and was freezing overnight - The car was plugged in, still is, and charged to 80%. On looking at my app however, it now says its at 76%? I haven't started any air conditioning and its still plugg...

Re: Driving on snow

My first experience of driving the ID.3 on snow and ice was over the last couple of days and had a couple of hairy moments. Most notably when the backend swung out when turning 90 degrees onto a (not very steep) downward slope. Took it very slowly but the car did not like driving on compacted snow ...

Re: Delivery time

This is my first experience dealing with VW .... Currently it just smacks a bit of VW not giving a cr*p. VW is simply at capacity. I am sure there are lots of reasons for cars being delayed, but basically when ordering an ID you should just know that it's a 1-2 year wait and sit back. If that's not...

Re: Delivery time

It's nothing to do with chips, the ID series have just proved extremely popular. VW has a maximum capacity of around 300000 a year and is simply assigning based on order. It has already sold two years production on order in advance. It is important that the dealer gives a proper estimation of delive...

Re: ID3 breakdown leads to poor VW customer service

In a lease car you have no ownership, so it's the lease company that should answer to you. In terms of VW vs the garage, it's difficult to know who is at fault. VW should have sent a technician over to have a look and should have had a full diagnostic from the car. Some garages, like mine, have a nu...

Re: Delivery time

Yup it’s getting stupid isn’t it. Ordered my Tour on 31st aug 21 for a nov build. It was an existing order they had placed before Aug, which is why I went for it at a slightly higher price than the online dealers as I was told nov build rather than “next year” (2022). That turned into Dec, Jan, Mar...

Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement

Qudos to my garage, Citygate Watford. Very nice people and very helpful (my first VW). Booked my car in a few months ago, took it in a few days ago. The reception was very helpful. They said 1-2 days, and the car will be given a complete check as well, and will be cleaned. They gave me the courtesy ...

Re: Moving on

Glad that you are having fun looking at different cars. I have had many ICE cars and the ID3 is my first electric. We have had for over 1 year now and I can quite categorically say that its the best car I have ever had. I love the touch user interface, and the electronic window button that can pull ...

Great write up. Thanks for posting. We toured North Wales, Yorkshire and Mersey area last summer with the ID3 and had no issues. We also picked a hotel with a charger in the car park.

Re: ID.3 thoughts after 6 weeks

Yes, the ID3 is an excellent car the "sum of its parts" over our previous ICEs have led me and the wife calling it Car 2.0 We loved touring north wales and north england with it, and then bournemouth and area in summer (we live in north london). the range is very good. Pity there is so muc...

Re: Range issues

Any battery device is going to take a crash of 30% when the temperature drops. The ID3 turns on a heater below 12.5 I think and if you have the heat pump you will get 10% better efficiency, but there is no avoiding this I think if your car is delivered in winter you would be quite disappointed, but ...

Don't worry about it. Nothings going to happen There was a case on the id3 FB page where someones was broken off at a public charger (presumably by someone walking past and catching it). It wasnt a cheap fix... and didnt just press back in again :( I stopped using Facebook a few years ago My life h...

Nice colour BTW, I wanted to get that gorgeous turquoise but compromise with the wife was white :)
