Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement
booked for 12th August. Dealer wanted £30 for "insurance"........hmmmmmmm Further to this just had a call back from the dealer. They have said they will need the car for 2 days. I am having difficulty understanding why this is necessary. Has anybody yet had 2.4 installed by a dealer (ie p...

Infotainment system - auto off
I know there have been a number of comments about the infotainment system auto shut down when there is no-one in the drivers seat. My question is has anyone found a way of keeping the radio (or other sound system) running?

Re: Sat nav destinations from We Connect app
It works something like this.. You set the destination on your phone, the phone communicates with a server probably an AWS or Google offering somewhere. Someone in VW logs into the host server periodically and checks all the destination updates. They write all these down and fax them to another off...

Re: Do you follow VW advice on battery charging?
A related question: I have a long drive on Friday and will set off about 10am. What would be the real impact if I charged to 100% in the Octopus Go window? Ie have 100% charge from 04.30 to 10.00?

Re: Wireless smartphone charging
If your phone is also running Android Auto or Apple Carplay and doing navigation etc, the charging will just about keep up (or just about not keep up) - but the power usage means the phone will indeed run very warm, depending on software and hardware of course. If your phone is in a case, try remov...

Re: Journey advice - charging
Another South Gloucestershire ID3 owner here.... The Donnington services on the M1, just where the A42 meets the M1 have chargers. Not used them myself as the last time I was there was before we picked up our ID3 but I imagine they would be perfect for topping up. I saw that, but that is "easy...

Journey advice - charging
Next weekend I am going on the first trip where I know I will need to charge en-route. Travelling from south Gloucestershire to Leeds via M5/42/A42/M1. Will set off with 100% and would like to arrive with about 40%ish, Have We Connect and Juice accounts and old fashioned plastic if they fail. Lookin...

Re: Car location in WeConnect ID
It is an utterly useless app. I had a 5 year old Peugeot 308 which had a really useful app: location, individual journey records - including start and finish, fuel, average and journey MPG, service history etc etc etc. Sure it had some bugs but was actually a value add, rather than VWs embarrasing w...

Use a public charger early. To gain self confidence in "how to" before you have to use one in earnest.

Re: ID3 Software Update v2.3
Picked car up last Friday. Was not able to pair the ID Connect in the showroom, I suspect because of weak signal. Sales guy drove the car out of the showroom onto the forecourt (his insurance not mine through a very narrow gap!). Once outside sat in the car for a few minutes making sure I knew where...

And here she is! 60 miles home....all good.

Re: Real world cost?
Interesting report, but they key point is that PHEV becomes cheaper per mile above 100k miles. Below that EV is significantly cheaper. Don't know about you , but I am very unlikely to keep the car to 100k miles......so its all a bit theoretical! This is the business part of the report - annoyingly i...

Re: Real world cost?
PHEV are required while we still have some of the issues with BEV. I strongly considered one when weighing up the ID3. There are rare occasions where I need to do relatively long range distances in as short a time as possible. If I was regularly doing long distance journeys where time was a factor,...
