Re: Can you use strap-on Bike Racks on an ID3?
Thanks for the quick replies. I suppose I was really asking "Is the tailgate strong enough to take strap-on bike carrier?" and Utumno's comment about it being plastic sets the alarm bells ringing, together with the 'no you can't' advice on the Roofbox website. This is annoying as my bike ...

Re: ID3 range-ometer just cannot be believed
The ID3 is not alone in having reduced range in cold weather and battery heating chewing through range. We have an e208 currently and ID3 on order. The e208 pre heats the battery when cabin is pre heated and has a heat pump as standard. Yesterday, pre heated in 5 degrees C I averaged 3.4 miles/kWh o...

Re: MY updates coming soon?
Quick question - if your ID3 isn't in build yet can you assume you get the MY22+ updates? Build dates seem to be jumping around a lot (see Utumno's really useful spreadhseet) but I think it is likely you will get some of them depending on when your order was placed if you don't have a build date ye...

Re: MY updates coming soon?
Has anybody seen these new premium interiors yet, and do they make a difference? Can anybody spell out, what the actual difference is for the the Family trim? ID.3 Family Pro Ordered 8th Dec 2021 The only images I can find are on the configurator. I think it's going to be a while yet before we see ...

Re: Anyone use Iron X or similar?
If you have driven anywhere you will pick up iron contamination from the brakes of vehicles in front especially on the bonnet and wing mirrors. After long journeys it will be around wheel arches and long the lower parts of doors as well. Our e208 was virtually "red" all over the bonnet, do...

Re: 80% battery charge vs full charge
There is not any recommendation to only charge to 80%. The recommendation is only to charge over 80% (i.e. to 100%) if you are going to use the car immediately. Do not leave the car at a SoC over 80% for long periods of time, likewise below 20% (40% in Winter but I suspect that's a nominal figure t...

Re: Ohme Home Pro v Wallbox Pulsar Plus
Great thanks will give that a go! We are on octopus go and works brilliantly in the podpoint as have set timer to start at 0030 Will advise how we get on! Do you have timer set in the Podpoint or in the car? That may conflict with the Ohme if you do. Ideally let one have control so there is no conf...

Re: Ohme Home Pro v Wallbox Pulsar Plus
Good questions there. The Ohme app has a setting to allow/disable charging below/above a manually set price-per-kWh setting that you apply, depending on your tariff. This can be easily disabled for times when you need to boost in an emergency regardless of time-of-day. For example, I'm on Octopus G...

Re: Ohme Home Pro v Wallbox Pulsar Plus
As for multiple instances of the app, you scan a QR code on the charger to activate it in the app, so I'm guessing it's the same login. Does this work on one instance of the app or multiple? Dunno is my answer, but this could be a crucial point. At the mo, my car is controlled by my app/charge-hard...

Re: Ohme Home Pro v Wallbox Pulsar Plus
Another vote for Ohme. Also like the fact it works via mobile signal which is much more stable than WiFi. Really super simple to use. Bullet proof. I also have Ohme cable for £199 via Octopus.

Re: Help choosing home charger
Has anyone been told they need a mini consumer unit installed and if so, how much has this added to a quote? I needed one in an external waterproof enclosure as the supply for the chargepoint was taken straight from external meter cupboard to the charge point. From memory it added about £150. Are y...

Looking at his Linked-in and the number of "liked" items straight out of the Tesla PR machine as well as the time he has spent in Tesla's company around the world I would say he is a fully paid up member of the Tesla fan boy club! Interesting article but somewhat one sided. Agree that the ...

Re: api compatible wall chargers ?
There *is* a VW API. There's even a Python library to drive it. Not sure why Ohme say they can't use it. I've been playing with it on my laptop and can successfully read the SoC, turn on the air con, etc. Not as capable as I'd like (doesn't appear to be a way to edit the charging times, etc.) but i...

Re: Dwindling battery!
Basically, if you are bothered about the environment: - make changes in your life to reduce your carbon footprint - if you see a company you think are doing good stuff then by all means invest, or buy stuff from them - but definitely *do not* buy a "100% renewable" energy tariff and then ...

Re: Dwindling battery!
So if the whole population in the UK moved to a green energy tariff everything would be fine and dandy and we would have 100% green energy because all that green energy would be produced somewhere, by someone, in an imaginary wind farm or solar farm? Supply and demand, like Barbie dolls? If everybo...

Re: Dwindling battery!
Chopping down ancient forests and replacing them with fast growing trees is more of an ecological/wildlife concern. Ancient trees grow slowly - fast growing trees have a higher rate of CO2 extraction and conversion. I wouldn't want to see fast growing conifers replace all the deciduous trees out th...

Re: Delivery time
I expect this to be a bit more nuanced, and you’ll only get a MY22.5 if your build started wk51. I expect there will be vehicles whose build started prior to wk51 but complete well after wk51 that will remain MY22. I’ve tried to guesstimate MY22 or MY22.5 on the tracker. Yes I would expect that as ...

Re: Dwindling battery!
Renewable energy tariffs are really just brain washing/green washing. The electricity in your sockets at home is from the National Grid and if right now 45% of that today is produced by wind, x% by nuclear, x% by coal and gas then that is what you have. You can improve this by generating your own e...
