Re: General 2.3 OTA rollout to start
Which “smaller updates”? The only things that have been entirely silent are a new navigation database. I had two small updates through before 2.3, for digital manual and wecharge, and another two for the same after 2.3. If I remember correctly, they all downloaded silently in the background then tr...

Re: General 2.3 OTA rollout to start
There was prior warning the email which you scrolled through to accept the update explained this would happen. There was no set Date or time given but once you'd accepted the update conditions laid out in the email this was due to happen. Spot on. This is accurate and I appreciate you have also pos...

Re: General 2.3 OTA rollout to start
It will be interesting to see if future updates are a bit more seamless - let's hope so. The real gripe for me was that the car all of a sudden threw a load of assist system errors, while I was driving, with no prior warning. This update is being pushed out to the masses now. There's such good infor...

Re: General 2.3 OTA rollout to start
Success!
Now fully updated to 2.3, having managed to leave the car off charge, at >50% soc, with lights off, last night and just now.
As soon as 2.3 was complete I got two further updates through straight away, for digital manual and wecharge. Those went through without a hitch.

There's a button on your door controls for lock /unlock. Top right. It's a bit discreet but definitely there!

Re: Car collection activities?
I opened a can of worms here with the number plates!
I wasn't too bothered either way until I saw a friend's iD3 at the weekend, with green plates on, and decided that yes I did actually want a set.
As many of you have said, they're not mandatory, so personal preference it is.

Re: Car collection activities?
Check that the dealer has put a proper set of green number plates on for you! Ours was supplied with regular plates but the dealer (Swansway in Wrexham, who have been really good) have just made up a set of green ones and posted them to me.

Re: Newby, just about to tip my toe in the water
I see that actual stock ID3s have pretty much disappeared from Auto Trader now. When I bought ours a couple of months ago, there were 90 or so new ID3s on there.

Re: General 2.3 OTA rollout to start
So, I had another crack at this tonight, asking the car to run the update from the goodbye screen. Surprisingly, it wouldn't start the process until I had switched the sidelights off manually. Also the installer had a bit of a wobble when one of my children opened the back window, but once the windo...

I agree with everything you've said there!
Even though I knew that the assistance systems would be unavailable from the point the download started (though like you I can't see why that should be the case), for everything to kick off in-car without any prior notification is far from ideal.

Re: General 2.3 OTA rollout to start
Hi all So it looks like my update to 2.3 is not going quite to plan! As reported in another thread, I got several assist system errors while driving home yesterday (with no prior warning), then shortly after that a notification popped up saying that a software update was available, asking me to conf...

Re: 3 new faults today. Help!
I can confirm 100% that there was no update or notification from the car before all the assist warnings started going off. If memory serves me correctly, the email from VW did did say that the assist systems would be unavailable as soon as the update started to download (rather than when it started ...

Re: 3 new faults today. Help!
I had exactly this driving home today! Probably 30 seconds or so after all the warnings, I got a popup notifying me of the software update. Fortunately I'd seen discussions about these warnings, and as others have said, the email from VW did indicate that assist systems would be degraded during the ...

Re: Service Cost
So, it does seem that a standard 'service' for an ID3 is essentially the same as the free health check and report you get every time any VAG car crosses the threshold at a dealership.
Except way more expensive!!

Blimey, even £200 seems pretty steep given the actual work involved.

Re: Luxury fitted carpet mats for ID.3
The current accessories catalogue does list the standard carpet mats at £53.
I've got a set on order, so can't comment definitively but as I understand it, the ID3 logo is the obvious way to tell the difference between standard and luxury carpet mats (luxury mats have it, standard mats don't).

Re: Stop start engine button
Putting your foot on the brake once you've sat in the car will do the same job as switching on via the steering column button. Could it just be that sometimes you've managed to switch on using the brake?

Re: UK vs Norway............
At Manchester airport (2nd busiest in the country now I believe?) there are ZERO EV charging points. The nearest is (free) at the National Trusts Quarry bank. If you want to pick someone up the short term parking costs £6 for 30 min parking rising to £12 for an hour and that much per hour there-aft...

Re: Horn question
I think a lot of trams do this, certainly the ones in Manchester anyway. They've got a polite tinkly horn to steer people out of the way, then a proper horn if a more urgent message needs to be delivered! Not a bad idea for EVs, though I think the horn on the ID3 sits firmly in the middle
