Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement

HI, i'm from Italy, 2 days ago I took the car to my VW workshop (ID3 58kWh) fo r2.4 update and battery replacement, and at this time the car is not ready...... After job completion the car is not seeing the new (or old) 12 volt battery, and the red battery indicator is always on. They tried to repe...

I guess Ill ring around again. But it is really a bore.
Given how Tooks’ update has gone, we’ll all probably be waiting that long to get ours finalised anyway!

Re: Software vs hardware

Wow, thanks for the info. I never expected it to be anywhere close to the specs in a Tesla but this is not impressive at all.

Considering the ID3 was announced in 2016 and didn't actually enter production until 2018/2019, I don't understand why they went with a then 6 year old chip and GPU.

Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement

What's this summer health check and is it worth it? They'll check your tyre pressures, top up your screenwah and check your lights on top of the normal health check the do anyway in order to suggest other things you'll need doing.. tyre replacment usually. So I would suggest 'No'. Mine told me they...

Re: Software vs hardware

Hmm I’m sure some of the issues can be fixed with software improvements. But judging from the previews of 3.0 (their 5th major software iteration?, it doesn’t really look that snappy and still has some perceivable latency when using the menus. The preview we saw of 3.1 and the games in particular di...

Software vs hardware

Anyone know what kind of processor is used for the infotainment system?

Wondering whether the laggy software is because it’s just not optimised well or if it’s down to underpowered hardware.

Re: Moving on

Agree with much of what you said!

Speaking of lights, I only realised recently that some of the headlights stay on during the day. Have I got a setting wrong or is this how modern cars work now?

I’m sure there’s been a similar argument made 10 years ago about them using email rather than sending a letter. Times change - and we’re customers of a fairly cutting edge technology (EVs) - so it’s not surprising they’re harnessing the power of social media to communicate. I’m no fan of social med...

I no longer have access to my Facebook account so it’s quite frustrating that this is the way VW decides to communicate updates.

Anyone else on here or on Facebook got a service appointment?

Congrats! Probably the fastest turnaround from ordering to delivery that anyone on here has seen! Thanks for the update, I'm guessing that would bode well for a build week 40 + of a Max or Tour model, can't imagine they would build an older spec model and how easy that would be on a production line ...

And Apple just shared a sneak peak of their next-gen version of CarPlay. It looks incredible but VW aren’t on the list of current partners.

But Audi and Porsche are.

It honestly baffles me that they've spent all this time and money on this software, for it to be this half baked. They could approach Google and put android automotive in, ala Polestar and problems solved. Surely most people plug in their phone anyway so why they feel the need to reinvent the wheel...

Re: Issues with Multiple Users in WeConnect app and v3.0

That’s really strange. They released an update for the app months ago which suggested the car location and other features are ready to go but require a v3.0 car. Interestingly enough, in iOS you can create a Shortcut which can either get the battery level, current car position or find nearby chargin...
