Re: Prices for 4G data plans

I had my wifi-only iPad in my car once a few months ago while at a 50kW charger for a while, I tethered it through my phone which already has enough spare data at a much lower cost. If I really wanted internet radio in the car, I'd use the TuneIn app through Apple CarPlay - again using the data on ...

Re: Prices for 4G data plans

I thought I read the SIM was included for 3 years in the UK ? Is this not correct ? There are two data streams into the ID cars, a bit confusing There is one for VW, e.g. updates etc. I believe this is free for a number of years (havent checked, is it 3 ?) There is another one for data you use, e.g...

Re: How long does it take to get a VW order number?

Did you do PCP? I've not done PCP before, so I'm unsure as to how long that should take to process, and/or if it delays the production of an order number. The contract of sale is the order form. At the same time the salesman will ask you to fill in the PCP finance approval request. As soon as your ...

Re: Wall charger install costs?

One consideration should be the connectivity you require. If you don't have any wifi near the installation point then it might be worth looking into chargers that allow you to use the smart functions via bluetooth. I ended up getting the Wallbox Pulsar Plus for that reason (ask for a discount using...

Re: Will I or won’t I?

But didn't I read somewhere that VW are refunding some heat pump buyers in Germany, due to it not functioning as required? Why make refunds, or partial refunds, if it can be fixed with a software update? They are refunding buyers in Germany over the original claims of 30% efficiency, when it now sh...

Re: Wall charger install costs?

£599 generally with grant for most chargers if the installation is straightforward. Distance cabling easily adds £500-£1000 Zappi is more expensive then most charges, often adds around £200. Also there is 6 week waiting list, unless you have installer with stock IMHO The Zappi is one of the most rel...

Re: Will I or won’t I?

The 3pin granny charger can be quite useful. Its actually not bad and can add 50% over night. I am still using mine whilst I wait for my delayed Zappi implementation. I wouldnt buy with the car, as I dont want it as part of my finance deal. Actually my garage has all accessories on order due to dema...

funny thing is that I am not attracted to the ioniq at all
i liked the tesla 3 but apart from the acceleration, I felt the ID3 was better in almost every respect for £10k less. including I think the ID3 looks cooler

Re: Which battery to choose?

If you can afford the 58 pro performance then go for it. Its just loads more fun, and 0-30 you are quicker then most cars on the road

If you prefer to spend the difference on a pack or two, that's up to your persona preference. The non-performance 58 is very good

Anyway, the whole point of this thread was to help someone who was considering buying one. And yet even though I asked multiple times where their journeys were going to be from/to they won't tell me, so I can't tell them.if there are any rapid chargers on the route. If you fancy telling me at some ...

Re: just thinking about getting an id.3

Unfortunately all the charging providers have different ways of doing it. Pod point you need the app, but no subscription. BP pulse is payg or subs and you don't need the app for payg. Source london is payg without an app but its terribly expensive, for £10 one off you get a better rate but it takes...

Re: First test drive

I find the brakes on the ID3 very sharp. The main difference between the ID3 and my previous BMW is that the pedal throw, on both the accelerator and brake is longer on the ID3. I am sure VW have done this to give you more control over the torque and the braking. One thing I am realising is that the...

Re: First test drive

If you have a home charger it's much easier then an ice. No slipping out to garages late at night. We "fill up" less then our old bmw 2. That because all of our driving is in town. On long distance you just arrange a stop. We are going to Chester from London in a few weeks, around 4 hours,...

Re: Other EVs?

yes, Skoda Enyaq - didnt like the grill Model 3 - nice car but no obvious advantages for our family for the extra £10000 an ID4, but decided that we liked look and interior of the ID3 better, and also decent battery range with the gov grant. The ID4 large battery is outside the gov grant cost. The I...

Re: just thinking about getting an id.3

1. Look on the VW uk website and choose build a car. You can pick the different trim levels for the ID3 and see what they contain. You also need to look at packs for options. Basically the lowest model the life is very well specced, much in the family is not that useful to me, but there are some use...

Re: Anyone contacted by VW about the heatPump?

I think the science behind the heat pump is solid, and so is VW's implementation I am sure it will improve with software updates 30% was over enthusiastic, I think its been measured at 10% but mostly at below zero temperatures The price has now been reduced to £1000, from the £1260 previously If I l...
