Re: Long v Short Journeys and Battery Heating
Hi all, So today I did a full run from 100% to see what the battery degradation might be, and was pretty interesting seeing how energy was used over time. For background, July 2022 car with 25,500 miles, I believe 2.4 software, 2 of us in the car, 8°C on average, running in Eco mode and B on the dr...

Re: Long v Short Journeys and Battery Heating
So logical. Thank you for that. Do we get SW 4 someday or is that in other models, I wonder. I don't think anyone knows for sure but the general presumption now seems to be that cars built with 3.x or earlier won't get 4+ because it operates on different hardware. However VW have said OTA updates a...

Re: Long v Short Journeys and Battery Heating
...last one means your car is connected to an ac-charger (wallbox or whatever), charging is done, but with a programmed departure time for preheating. So to answer your question, yes but only if a departure time is set and the temperatures are in the right range. On 3.0 or later. ... So logical. Th...

Re: Ev Car tax
Post 2017 EVs are to be taxed at £180 (may increase with inflation) from April 2025. Same as many ICE.
EVs bought from 2025 will be subject to £390 (ditto) luxury car tax if they cost over £40k.
Both these things may change, they are just policy proposals of an outgoing government.

Re: Long v Short Journeys and Battery Heating
Charging overnight and battery heating and temperature. If the car is told to be ready at 0900 and charges off the domestic charger at say 7kW, will the battery preheat off the charger, if the temperature is -5C? This is the settings for when the battery heater activates (from ID driver's club Face...

Re: Long v Short Journeys and Battery Heating
If you want to measure the full capacity of the battery directly using indicated SoC, you need to do a full 100%-0% run (as close as you can get) without preheating the car and without using any climate while stationary if you stop mid route. You can't extrapolate accurately from shorter journey(s)...

Re: Radio not working
That's the part of the homescreen for an external device (phone). It's not the radio control. Try going back to the screen with all the tiles in it and selecting radio from there.

Re: No 3.2.1 update?
I'm the same as you, and I think many people are. They said they would release it in waves like previous ota updates to be sure it's working ok. So it won't come to your car until your car is in a released wave. When you get it, you won't see any difference afterwards. It'll still just say 3.2 in th...

Re: ID.3 Charging degradation after 3.2 update
I have a 30-month-old ID.3 Pro and in the first 2 years of ownership, before the 3.2 software upgrade, when charging to 100% the screen shows 265 miles in the summer and 240 miles in the Winter? After the upgrade I can no longer charge to that figure as when 100% is reached it only shows 178 miles....

Re: Charging only @3.6kw
Yes I was pondering switching to Intelligent Octopus Go charging - I think then Octopus talk tothe car and tell it when to start andd stop charging, but I have not verified that yet. That's right. Although IO is a pretty complex set up. If all you want to do is solve the problem above, you just nee...

Re: Charging only @3.6kw
Hi, We have had this issue with reduced charge on and off for the last 2 years with PodPoint. I get the impression that the VW software platform presents them (and others) with considerable issues. It all centres around how they wake the car up to take a charge - this seems to be the difficult bit....

Re: Fitting Thule bike rack to 77kw ID3 2024
Sorry, I don't know but...are you sure you can option the transport hitch on the 77kwh Match? On the old Tour spec it wasn't an option, possibly because of weight limits. A transport hitch could only be ordered on 58kwh cars. If you can order the transport hitch, it's much better value to get it don...

Re: Navigation Database updates
Yes, it's automatic in the background, although some people found it stopped working. I haven't heard of this for quite some time. 24.2 is the absolute latest available. It's year.month (so 24.2 is February 2024) and comes out about a month in arrears. Anything you download from the website will be ...

Re: Heated Steering Wheel
Oddly enough i would like the exact opposite, is there a way to ensure its always on? preferably level 2, I have raynaulds If you turn both those functions on, I think it will be on whenever the temperature is below 12C but not otherwise. Only the work of a few seconds to turn it on. I also like it...

Re: Heated Steering Wheel
There is an option called "zones in the app". There is also a setting in the car. When the climate screen is on, there is a settings cog near the top somewhere (you might need to hover your hand near the screen). This has a heated wheel option in it. If you turn off the heated wheel option...

I think it would be 3.7, or if it's been hanging around for a while, 3.5.

Re: Launch editions?
Has anyone got a Launch Edition 3 with a 77kWh battery? Or does it not exist? TIA I don't think it exists, the Launch Edition 4 is/was the 77 kwh version. That’s what I thought. But I have been talking with a VW dealer and he reckons he has one. Just shows what they actually know about their own ma...

Re: Charging only @3.6kw
I have emailed Garo to see if the charger can limit the amperage, I do not have solar panels so that cannot interfere with the output, I am not scheduling for overnight as I am still with Shell and have not been swapped to Octopus yet and do not have the reduced rate for the same reason. Thank you ...
