Re: Breakdown cover
Indeed! I had downloaded that from your previous post already, thanks for putting it on here. You'd hope that with zero consumables you might be looking at only £100 ish for a service (it really doesn't seem to get you much more than the usual free health check), but I rather suspect I'm being optim...

Re: Breakdown cover
I asked our dealer to confirm the breakdown cover on the ID3, as mine came with a breakdown leaflet in the glovebox, which even though it was clearly ID specific, clearly said one year's breakdown cover only. The dealer confirmed it was definitely three years. I'm still some way off my first service...

Re: New First Edition owner
There's a bit of an oddity with the current version of the app; under settings you've got the setting for automatic window heating, but then there's another setting for 'zones' which also claims to control heating for windows and mirrors (as well as seat and steering wheel heating). I haven't yet pl...

Re: Speed vs Battery Consumption
I think there's another thread here where someone has demonstrated (with actual maths!) that electricity use at 70mph is dramatically higher than at say 50mph.
But I agree with what others here have said, driving at 70 and scheduling a quick rapid charge does seem like the way to go.

Re: Horn question
Thanks all. We've maybe drifted a little off-piste here 😀 Let's be clear, I don't drive around feeling overwhelmed with inadequacy thanks to the ID3's 'noddy toot' (that choice of words does seem to describe it well!) but it is just a bit weedy. Penny-pinching from VW, chasing marginal weight reduct...

Horn question
Hi all Quick question. I had to honk at some idiotic driving the other day and was surprised to hear that the horn on our ID3 only had a single tone. Every other VAG car I've owned (this is the seventh!) has had two horns, one with a high tone and one with a low tone. The horn on the ID3 does not so...

Re: Pro or Pro Performance?
Pure performance owner here, so mine is a little bit faster than a Pro, but not by far. If you haven't driven an EV before, it's quite different to driving an ICE car, because the torque is all available all the time. By the sound of it you'd be fine with a Pro. I've been driving ours for a month no...

Ah, very good!
It actually struck me as a fairly sensible bit of programming.

Re: Increasing the range while driving
I actually had to reduce the ACC distance for motorway driving, as I found that the standard distance is so long that other drivers were constantly pulling into it. I wonder whether that in terms of braking generally, perhaps there is a slight increase in regenerative braking efficiency through coas...

Re: ACC problem
Here's an interesting one.
I think that when I'm using ACC on the motorway, and go to overtake a vehicle, the ACC seems to accelerate as soon as I indicate right, temporarily cutting into the usual braking distance.
Have I imagined this or has anyone else observed the same behaviour?!

Re: Increasing the range while driving
I find D mode very impressive in terms of how intelligently it applies regenerative braking. As well as taking account of speed limits, It's the same with junctions, roundabouts and bends in the road, even with ACC off the car will suggest that you ease off the accelerator, and if you do so will slo...

Re: Three-pin / granny charger recommendations
I bought the genuine VW one, which does feel like a decent bit of kit.
The ones Screwfix sell seem to be much cheaper there than anywhere else selling the same models, I could well have bought one of those, but they were out of stock when our ID3 arrived.

Re: City Pure Performance trim
I can confirm that my City has got wireless phone charging and remote tailgate locking, and yes I suspect it's just a slight difference in terminology with the a/c, which is single zone. So it does look like VW just decided they had overcomplicated things and dropped the City naming for 45kwh, and j...

Ah, that's nice to actually see it in a brochure, thanks.
Hopefully the fact that it's such a rare model will bump up the used vales enormously

Re: City Pure Performance trim
Interesting, thanks. I still can't quite understand the logic from VW, it was a bit of a leap of faith when I bought the car, hoping that City trim would be identical to Life (which it seems to be, I haven't found any differences yet). Presumably VW will take orders for the 45kwh again at some point?

City Pure Performance trim
Hi all Proud owner of a freshly minted City Pure Performance, picked up on September 1st, which was very pleasing. My question is, why does this car still officially not exist as far as VW UK are concerned? City trim was announced back in April, yet there is no mention of it on VW's website, or in t...
