Locked out

Any ideas on this one? The car will not unlock. Doesn't react to keyless sensor. Doesn't do anything when keyfob buttons pressed (both fobs tried, repeatedly). The mechanical emergency key doesn't do anything. The car DOES detect the keyfobs, as the boot can be opened. I climbed in through it and al...

Re: Official post on VW ID. Drivers Club FB group regarding updates

The box is hidden in my account - settings ,vehicle consent management- my volkswagen primary users It's so well hidden that it is completely invisible no matter which area of which website I go to. No "vehicle consent management" option / section anywhere in the website settings for app,...

Re: Official post on VW ID. Drivers Club FB group regarding updates

I did not have it to start with, but it later appeared. Just keep trying every so often. From the myvolkswagen website, you need to click the little button with your initials in it and then click settings. There was another menu to click through after that which I've forgotten but you can search ar...

Does anyone know if those of us on 3.2 will get more recent versions? Also, whatever the answer is, is that good news or bad?

Re: Central Locking

This keylesslessness issue seems to be fairly common. I get it quite a lot, mainly when the car is wet. It took three visits to the workshop before they would believe me that there WAS a problem (they couldn't replicate it, until suddenly it happened for them too). It doesn't get recorded by the car...

... it often forgets that KESSY is supposed to let me in by touching the door handle - but no, have to fish out the key, press the plipper....but then it will work faultlessly for the rest of the day. And just for a laugh, when I can eventually open the driver's door, sometimes all the rear doors r...

Re: Chat GPT integrated in to new VW cars

"AI" means different things to different people. The software already uses what some would term AI to recognise road signs, the vehicle ahead, etc. IMO the recognition of lane and kerb markings, AND correlating that with other aspects of the road / traffic situation, is nowhere near intell...

Re: Am I better off just ignoring range completely or is it a g)itch in the app

I haven't had a problem with the app regarding reporting of range / state of charge. But the last time I charged to 80%, a day later with no use in between, car and app reported charge as 81%, before dropping back to 80% later in the day. The outdoor temperature had dropped a bit since charging, so ...

Re: Next car after ID.3

I know someone with a Kona and have been out in it with them as a passenger. It has excellent range, but rear legroom is restricted - perhaps a fair bit of the car's bulk is crumple zone and insulation? Dashboard / infotainment looked better than VW's.

Re: ABS/Harsh Braking at Parking Speeds

I've only ever had this when the parking sensors pick up foliage and decide the car can't possibly be allowed to make contact with it. This emergency stop, even at very low speeds, makes a hell of a bang - when it happened the first few times I thought I must have hit something. Another example of a...

Re: ID3 service

Like every non-VW workshop I approached locally, Kwik-Fit wouldn't touch the car. With luck, the situation will be different for its second service in 2025!

MoT will not be a problem - even the local small garage is happy to do that.

Re: Scheduled Charging

I've set up the Ohme charger app with a collection of charging profiles. Most recently, I set it going with one which should have completed at 2130. The app told me straight away charging wouldn't be complete by that time (max charging rate insufficient) so it would actually stop later. Which it did...

Re: Volkswagen embraces Tesla's charging standard for EVs

"All future vehicles" "starting in 2025".

So, some way off!

By then, VW will have got the information it needs from the ID family, and will shift to producing electric-only Golfs, Polos, etc as it phases out ICE models?

Re: Cornering Light Message Fault

Thanks for the tip. Does anyone know how the sound generator can wreak such havoc? Since this seems to be (now) a known issue as far as VW is concerned, there ought to be a fix available in software, to allow the car to function in all respects other than sounds until the faulty module is replaced?...

Re: Can adaptive cruise control be installed later?

I suspect all the hardware and software to provide ACC is already in place, it just needs someone to plug in the right bit of VW-provided kit, type or key in the appropriate magic codes, and it will magically appear. ACC doesn't use any information that isn't already used by other aspects of the car...

The article I read pointed out that rats will eat non-plant-based wiring too. And rats are pretty common anywhere, if not as common as an urban myth suggests: <https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2014/feb/13/urban-myths-6ft-from-a-rat> When we used a wildlife-detecting camera in our garden for a whil...

Re: Help please re OTA or dealer upgrade

Our "recall" for dealer upgrade and full battery module check left the car on 3.0. Upgrades to 3.1 and then to 3.2 were OTA. When the infotainment screen has completed all its boot up and other initialisation, look top right at the globe icon to see if there's any "notification" ...
