Re: General usability questions
The Lane Assist does not come on 'without good reason' that is not possible, go for a spin with your young lad and see for yourself........maybe he's trying the 'Dad this car is rubbish' trick to get deep into your pockets, had the same with my daughter and her perfectly acceptable VW Polo! Rob Sor...

Re: Spare Battery Modules
A week after I had the 3.2 update I started to get the dashboard warning about the electric drive not working correctly. They’ve since told me this will stay on until the battery modules are replaced, which I’m now in the queue for. She said if it’s driving fine with no issues then to just keep doi...

Re: Phantom braking
I find ACC works well in situations where I am, er, "cruising": wanting minimal fuss, a particular maximum speed, opportunity to rest both feet. Long stretches of motorway or similar. I've never tried it in town traffic or on minor country roads, and am not sure I'd want to.

Definitely. The fact that you are asking suggests you are unaware of the huge amount of data about you which is otherwise handed over to the next owner! Re: General usability questions
Regarding 2 - the way it's set up does mean creeping in stop-start traffic jams is easy. As for 3, there are plenty of threads here on that topic. Until 3.0 came out, it was apparently easy to disable lane assist permanently with an OBD11 (plugs into diagnostic socket). But following 3.0 that seemed...

Re: ID3 servicing.......... simply explained
On coming up to two years, dealer informed us it was necessary to have our ID3 serviced if we wanted warranty to remain valid. £190 for very little. Told me the batteries are healthy (knew this from the software upgrade earlier this year when same dealer produced battery health report). Also advise...

Re: Oil used in my id3 service!
A big problem here (IMO) is that there's no competition. I couldn't find any garage / workshop locally that would touch the car. Some cited lack of "software", most simply said it was outside their capabilities. All said it was not in my interests while the car was under warranty. It seems...

Re: Software Feature Requests
Since 3.2 upgrade I am fairly happy with what the car has to offer. But… I would love VW to fix the bug that stops the passenger side mirror for auto dipping on reverse. So annoying having to twiddle the knob to select the left hand mirror to get it to dip. Doubly annoying that it worked perfect on...

Re: Confused after 3.2 update
Have you checked that you are on 3.2? Like many people, our dealership update was actually to 3.0. The updates to 3.1 and 3.2 had to be requested manually - I think they would only kick off if the car was parked AND had good signal. Try poking a different set of buttons in response to the notificati...

Re: Does your car make you smile?
Maybe it's rather mundane, but I find it much less stressful (compared to an ICE) when in stop-start long queues. No need for autostart or "should I switch off?"/ "is it worth moving forward just a couple of metres" internal debates. As to the standing-start acceleration coupled ...

Re: Spare Battery Modules
Our ID3 (2021) had a full battery module check as a formal recall item twinned with the software upgrade (to 3.0, with 3.1 and 3.2 occuring OTA in the following days). Was the fault after 3.2, or identified during the 3.2 work?

Re: Suspicious E-mail from VW Financial Services (NOT)
It's probably wrong to assume that VW has any sort of coherent policy on anything, but communications with the dealer for recalls and servicing suggest that they are trying to automate everything. I get emails, texts and phone call reminders for any appointment, with some of them urging me to "...

Re: Front windscreen fan + heating
I think turning off MAX only returns to previous settings if those settings were something other than basic fan and temp? (And I've noticed no difference in that since shift from 2.4 via 3.0 & 3.1 to 3.2.) There is one difference: passenger side insists on defaulting to ECO, while driver side re...

Re: Which charger?
We have Ohme Home Pro, which is fine. We went for an deal which combined installation of the charger with replacement of our ancient consumer unit. The latter had done very good service, but used a separate single RCCB, whereas the new one means every circuit has its own RCBO. Combining the two jobs...

It's a month old now, but this article suggests price hikes and even refusals to insure are the norm: https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/sep/30/the-quotes-were-5000-or-more-electric-vehicle-owners-face-soaring-insurance-costs In regard to Teslas, I found this article about gigacastings: https://...

Re: 2023/24 INSURANCE RENEWAL PRICES
Ours has jumped substantially (up 65%). So more than some, less than others. I did look around, but decided to stick with the same company on same policy terms.
