Re: ID3 advertised range.

I always used to find the NEDC (pre-WLTP) combined figure to be pretty accurate before stop-start tech came in and totally skewed the figures (because 26% of the 11 minute test cycle was at a standstill). Prior to stop-start, if the official figures for my Scirocco 170TDI were 53mpg, I could easily...

Re: 10-inch screen to 12-inch screen

That's just referencing the same article that started the whole debate on this topic. (Edit, I see Utumno has pointed this out.) It seems inconceivable to me that they would start selling ID3s with an upgrade (the backlit buttons) in November/December that aren't in the new ID5 due out in March. I s...

Re: Delivery time

Could it also be that the dealer is trying to only give you a confirmed week for when build will complete, rather than when it will start? I mean, if it was built but just awaiting chips and he didn't want to give you a 'build week' because he didn't know when that final stage would happen, that's a...

Re: Delivery time

Agreed, it's bizarre - I ordered a day later (05/08) and have had confirmation mine is now in build (was week 42 and never got delayed from the original date). Still fairly optimistic of a delivery in late December. It's obvious that some people get luckier than others either due to dealer batch or ...

Re: Charging Level

Surely the point about not going below 20% is just that you are then supposed to charge it up quickly, so it isn't left standing around at very low charge - equivalent to the advice about not charging to 100% and leaving it like that? I've not seen advice that says you shouldn't use the last 20% whe...

On a slightly more positive front...Skoda have seemingly had a chip delivery and are able to start production again after a fortnight break, having previously announced they might be shut down for the year. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/volkswagens-skoda-resume-production-aft...

Re: Delivery time

My order number also starts with an 8 (8069xxx). I've never had one beginning with a 3 despite it now being in build. So you aren't alone Camsoft. I don't suppose it matters other than that you can't compare so easily to others with 3... numbers? (Edit and to add, having seen your post below - our o...

Re: Delivery time

I got an "in production" email from VW this morning. What does this actually mean? My last update from the dealer was build week 46. We got this too. It arrived at the beginning of the week we had had confirmed as our confirmed build week (42) so I'd assume it means exactly that - it's no...

Re: Hello from Somerset

Ah ok. Our confirmed build was week 42 which was this week, so a little behind you. We got an email on Tuesday from VW UK confirming build has started. However I'm prepared for the fact it could be 'in build' a long time!
Best of luck getting yours this year!

Re: Hello from Somerset

That's interesting, we ordered exactly the same spec 4 weeks later and have also had confirmation it went in to build this week. If Newfie is right, I wonder if there was a few of them in this spec that had been ordered excess somehow.

Re: Home charger cost effective or not?

I think the£550 is a 'from' price because the actual price depends on who the installer company is that you are assigned (assuming you go through the Ohme website). For me this was 'the car charge people' whose standard price was either £600 or £650 (can't remember which, but not £550.) I didn't arg...

Re: Delivery time

Some positive news here, we ordered at the beginning of August, order number received overnight on the 5th. I think I reported a couple of weeks ago we had been given a confirmed build week of 42 by our dealer. That's this week. On cue this morning my wife has received an unsolicited email from VW U...

Re: Home charging speed

OP, have you got an economy 7 meter or something? I'm just wondering whether it's possible the current is taking a slightly different route to the charger at nighttime and if some component in that route could be limiting the current in some way. It might be worth posting on the SpeakEV forum, it se...

Re: Home charger cost effective or not?

A slightly different perspective - rather than calculating a rate of return for the charger over the next year or two, I saw it as an investment for the future. I expect to be in my house for 20 years and I don't expect to buy another ICE, so I sure will want a charger at some point. It just made se...

Re: If government grant pulled, will you cancel?

When I ordered, the dealer verbally confirmed that whatever happened to the government grant, the agreed price at the point of order was protected. Additionally, the price we both signed up to on the contract documentation is the net price, ie the price to exchange after the current grant value and ...

Re: Vehicle tracking

I just looked up airtags. I'm not convinced they're suitable for this purpose, only for things that could become lost (as opposed to stolen.) From the apple website: "AirTag is designed to discourage unwanted tracking. If someone else’s AirTag finds its way into your stuff, your iPhone will not...

Re: Range declining with cooler temperatures

Sorry if this is obvious. If you have set your car to charge to a given value (let's say 100% if you have a long journey to do) by a certain time (eg during Octupus Go hours) but then you set the car to preheat just before setting off, whether manually or using a schedule (but after the end of the s...

Re: Delivery time

We ordered 05/08 and a few weeks ago were given a provisional build week of 42 (18/10 I think). We just had the build week of 42 confirmed by the dealer. He couldn't give an estimated delivery date with any confidence (he had previously suggested November, which seemed very optimistic). I'm hoping ...

Re: Pro or Pro Performance?

On the subject of upgrades, I noticed (eg this topgear link) that from material about the cupra born, it is obviously the same underneath as the Id.3 with identical performance specs, but that the pro performance equivalent is also being offered with an 'e-boost' system that gives 227bhp. I wouldn't...
