Re: Total blackout of infotainment and instrument binnacle

Are you sure it isn't a mild popping sound from the speakers? I have that maybe once a week, seems quite random, but never had it on any other VAG car I've owned (13 of them prior to the 2 ID3s) I will try and take more notice from now on. It's such a quick, occasional event, which leads to nothing...

Re: A shortcut for the heated-seats...

Hello Stuart t and welcome. Glad you enjoyed your first drive and I hope like me you have many more enjoyable miles, it’s a great car. I don’t know of a shortcut for heated steering wheel, but if you’re new to the car a couple of other features your dealer may have omitted are , Hold the ‘rear’ but...

Re: Condensation and water droplets inside headlight

Thanks for your comment. Is there a suggestion that this is a common ID 3 problem? Did you manage to get this sorted? I've just spotted exactly the same issue, so let's hope my local dealership don't want to play silly buggers. It seems plainly apparent that this is a fault which should be fixed un...

Re: WeConnect app - cannot start air-conditioning

Does the climate system actually start though? The app doesn't talk directly to the car, it's more like this: App <> VW <> car <> VW <> app There are times then the instruction gets to the car, but the acknowledgement doesn't get back to the app in time. My experience reflects this. I've previously...

Re: Navigation Database Number

21.11 here too. The car lives Cheshire but crosses the border into Derbyshire (regularly) and Lancashire (less regularly), so ought to be picking up mapping updates from all three regions. As an aside, I submitted some mapping updates via the Here map creator app a few months ago, but the app doesn'...

Re: Understanding the Assistance Plus Pack

It sounds to me like you'd get pretty much everything you need with the standard kit. My only caveat is that he steering / lane assistance is pretty basic, and some find it very intrusive (myself included) and switch it off at the start of each journey. I've only got a base model, so someone with an...

Re: pedestal charger

Rolec do a range of stands for their charging units, which I think are a fairly economical option if you can't have a wall mounted unit. My understanding was that all smart EV chargers have some ability to throttle down output to prevent overloading, but someone else will no doubt be able to advise ...

Re: Little top ups good ?

If you need to charge the car to complete your next days journey - charge it.. If you think you might have an unplanned journey and like to be prepared - charge it. Stop worrying about Battery degradation there is a warranty and most of these articles are based on speculation and an amount of regur...

Re: Hello from Burgess Hill, Sussex.

Further afield if I visit my daughter in Merseyside I calculate an 18 minute Instavolt charge next to a Costa coffee in Banbury InstaVolt Banbury is an excellent facility, we live reasonably nearby (10 minutes off the next M40 junction headed south) and it has been the rapid charging facility of ch...

Re: Alarm goes off at random

Just to add to the alarm story: mine went off at 5:00am today with the alarm turned off but with it plugged into the charge point. I can find no evidence of moths, cats or even foxes. Used the remote key-fob from inside the house to OPEN and it stops the alarm. How annoying! Our car alarm goes off ...

Re: Tyre recommendations

My ID3 has got the stock tyres on, but I commute to an area which sees a lot of snow (by UK standards, anyway) so have always had winter or all season tyres on our previous cars (and still on our current A3, which is now the designated snow car). I settled on Goodyear vector 4 seasons. Apparently mo...

Much obliged 😃

I should also have said that it's great to see the ID3 supported by such an active forum!

Re: Price increase on Octopus Ohme Go offer

I vaguely recalled that I'd seen somewhere that the £199 offer was due to end in October, but I couldn't find that information online when I actually went to check. I'm waiting for a quote from our local sparky, for a commando socket installation, but I took a punt and made the enquiry about the Ohm...

Hello everyone (finally!)

So, I've done this in completely the wrong order, as I've been posting on here for a while now, but it's time to make it official! I picked up our City Pure Performance on September 1st and am so pleased with it. There was a bit of confusion thanks to the dealer not being able to explain why he was ...

Price increase on Octopus Ohme Go offer

Hi all Just a heads up, the discounted price of £199 which used to be available to Octopus customers for an Ohme Go charging cable has just increased to £299, which is a bit of a shame. They will however honour the old price if you made an enquiry about the offer via the web form, before November 1s...

Stock setup on the base models has 5 speakers in the front, none in the back.

I can't recall how far up the list of trims you have to go in order to get rear speakers.

Here you go! The photos of the interior at night are interesting. We have had our Life for nearly 2 months now and still haven't driven it at night. Some on here have criticized VW for not having the volume controls lit but I notice that the volume buttons on the steering wheel are lit. I tend to u...

I was going to mention the red dots under the 'unlit' controls? Me too - are they aftermarket fit, or are there actually lights in the haptic buttons ? Only ask as the Internet is full of complaints that the infotainment buttons are unlit... The same will happen if you take a picture of yours at ni...

Re: ID3 impressions (as a family car)

What cars have you been driving? I've never seen the wiper setting displayed on a long line of VAG cars I've owned, Fords, Jags, Toyota, Hondas my friends and colleagues drive. With most cars having auto wipers these days, you'd generally expect to be in that setting. It's also patently obvious whe...
