Source London price changes 1 Dec 21

Some major changes - switch from per minute to per kWh charge with idle fee after 5 minutes - Night-time cap removed, but no idle fee midnight to 7am (same effect) - differentiated pricing model with price hikes for some user classes (previous implied charge on typical 7kWh charger was ca. 29p/kWh) ...

Re: Worlds apart!

Funny. This is what what my first car looked like. Loved it, even though you had to get out and whip it up the hills on the motorway to Kassel.

Re: Range degradation

Its the battery heater that uses loads of juice (8-10kw) for the first 10-20 min from a sub 11 degree start. 10kw for 15 min = 2.5kwh, or approximately 5% of a 57kwh battery.. So every completely cold start you do will take a big chunk - and this is then reflected in your consumption. The newest mo...

Re: ID.3 Snow Chain recommendations

Snow chains for London? Are you Michael Fish? P.S. No idea about snow chains but I asked my DTD dealer about a quote for winter tyres and he told me to go to a tyre specialist. I am likely going to Italy over Christmas to see family, and where they are snowchains in the boot are mandatory Nov to Ma...

I'm on the £7.99 subscription and I am loving it. The Italy trip alone paid for two years of it.

ID.3 Snow Chain recommendations

Been looking around, Halfords doesn't do anything. I understand they need to be suitable for low-clearance wheel arches. Snowchainstore does König CB-7 but at £135 they look expensive. Anyone got recommendations? Interestingly, VW doesn't do them through their dealers. They also can't get winter tyr...

Always hard to compare but it was at fully comp about 200 pounds less than my A4 2.0 TFSI was in 2018 on 2rd party fire and theft.

Re: MY updates coming soon?

If they manage the recall the way they manage software updates, I'll have sold mine before I see a replacement battery.. (or should that be mis-manage) The 'Poor deal' I referred to was the overall experience, release software to 2.1 via dealership, bricked cars etc etc, although the 'Integrated da...

Re: Best winter tyres?

Costco only offers the Turanza, which I currently have on.

Thanks for the Black Circles tip - they offer Vredestein Wintrac at a reasonable price. Anyone got views on those?

Re: MY updates coming soon?

New better version comes out.. happens it's life and technology. When to buy? Early adopters often get a poor deal, My concern now though is the commitment to the parts of the older cars that can be updated, yes I'm moaning about the lack of any OTA update still. The responses I am getting from ema...

Re: MY updates coming soon?

Bringing this back, I am in awe at the meltdowns over on Facepalm with people complaining that (checks notes) new MYs that are sold at (checks notes again) higher prices get additional spec items, and that there are some who are feeling betrayed.

It's a funny old world.

Re: Best winter tyres?

So local Islington lot doesn't have any winter tyres for the ID.3. KwikFit only offers the CrossClimate2, which is not a winter tyre. Marshall's isn't calling back. The Michelin website tells me I can get the Alpin 6 at ATS Euromaster, but they only offer Goodyear(!). Or KwikFit, but they offer no w...

Re: Battery degradation

I'm not sure on this but unless you add ambient into the mix it's not a true comparison. I think if it's cold some energy is used to condition the batteries for charging. Car was preheated before I drove it over and not parked in a very cold location (underground car park with higher ambient temper...

Re: Best winter tyres?

Minor update on this. Are all UK VW dealers awful? Is that in their job description?

My chosen service provider not calling back, the place where we bought the car just being quite standoffish.

I can see why Tesla didn't bother with dealers.

Re: Battery degradation

I haven't looked at this. Your calculation does imply zero degradation but is the calculation really as simple as that? I don't want to look for bones in bannans but feel there is something missing. I cant fault the logic though. I will do the same on my next charge. Dave I agree it feels like I'm ...
