And here's the Pen Test Partners report link I dug up : https://www.pentestpartners.com/security-blog/smart-car-chargers-plug-n-play-for-hackers/ Am reading in depth. While I'm no crypto coder, I commission and risk manage penetration tests all day long in my work. [UPDATE] * Facepalms all round fo...

Blog post from Hypervolt referring the BBC article

I’d already shortlisted Hypervolt for my charger installation, but am otherwise unaffiliated.

Re: Should I Take The Plunge?
Well I have taken the plunge and will be picking up a 3 week old Max Pro Performance on Sunday. My old Golf R has gone to my wife’s nephew and he is over the moon. Will let you know how I get on, on my first long drive back to Swanage. Am researching a home charger and thinking about a Pod Point, b...

Re: Heat pump or no heat pump?
So I have to decide if I want to spend the extra on what has become a Pro Performance with heat pump, alloys & metallic paint Yup that is indeed about the long and short of it. If I were in a similar position I'd just search Autotrader and make a few calls to a few other dealers claiming to hav...

Re: How long does it take to get a VW order number?
Finally got mine, just mere minutes after midnight. This didn't resolve any suspicions, as it seemed like an irregular level of service for a salesman to be awake and emailing just as it ticked over to the last working day of the month  My number is 31400xxx, so if anyone's ordered in the last...

Re: Heat pump or no heat pump?
Just more money. I wouldn't expect the heat pump to make the car less reliable overall. If it was a case of accelerating delivery for ~£1000, you should just ask yourself whether you want to spend that money or not.

Re: Using Tesla Chargers UK
Lots of talk but I would be amazed if Tesla open them up any time soon. It is their trump card as the rest of the super fast charging infrastructure is so poor. It is the one thing that is making me wait for a model Y rather than getting an ID4 as I must have reliable super charging available for l...

Re: How long does it take to get a VW order number?
Been chasing mine up. A week down the line and I don't think they've submitted the order yet 2 weeks tomorrow since I put a deposit in, and I haven't had an order number yet. What's the chances it magically appears at the start of next month? I was pretty surprised to get mine before August ...

Unless it's software-locked to the Leaf for some reason, I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Re: How long does it take to get a VW order number?
We got our order number at about 4.30pm on 26-Jul. VW UK tracker as expected didn't recognise it until the following day, status now reads "With the factory".
Now, we wait

Re: Using Tesla Chargers UK
Tesla’s Superchargers have been Type 2/CCS since about 2018 (the Model 3 is Type 2 / CCS only) so there’s no physical connection issue preventing the ID.3 connecting to the Supercharger network right now. The charging heads are just programmed to mostly not deliver charge if what’s attached is not a...

If you're an Octopus electricity customer, you'll be able to get Ohme's app-enabled granny charger for £199, if that helps.

Re: How long does it take to get a VW order number?
My dealer not telling me the truth is what I was expecting, truth be told. Your order experience is exactly what I’d expected - order placed, and an order number is the VW basic acknowledgement of that order. Not having an order number for weeks is basically telling me that the order hasn’t been pla...

How long does it take to get a VW order number?
We placed our ID.3 order with the dealership on Monday last week, and chased the dealership today for an order number from VW. The dealership is saying it’ll take a further week to get that order number, so two weeks from placement to factory “confirmation”. Is two weeks from ordering to getting an ...

Re: UK Test drive question
It’s sadly perfectly normal, and depends on the insurance/insurer of your dealership for test drives. With your driving license and NI number the dealership can go to DVLA to check the status of your license (points, disqualifications etc) as if they were you. It’s easier for them to do this than as...

Re: ID.3 accessories
Ah yes, the different wheel trims, I forgot about those, I really dislike the ones that come as standard. Typical VW. They fit the ugliest wheels possible as standard and then rinse your wallet for the alloys they should have fitted as standard in the first place. Been doing that for years. Same wi...
