Perhaps the average German weighs less than the average person in other VW sales territories :?
.. though based on personal experience this seems unlikely.

They may have done something to the brakes and suspension, or it could just be a paperwork update (happens all the time on commercial airplanes). If the latter it might eventually be able to retrofit older models.

All the best

As this was never answered, it is soft touch plastic, so in-between your options. Didn't stop my daughter from sleeping comfortably on it for hours while we drove to Italy.

It might look like pointless luxury to you, but my wife is disabled and a totally different “shape” to me. Electric seats means she can more safely adjust the seating, and memory means I don’t have to stand in the pissing rain because she sets the drivers seat to a position where I can’t even get in the car!

Sorry, I think you’ve taken that the wrong way. What I meant was are they a thing on the ID3? I have a Max on order, so I know they’re powered, but I’ve never seen mention on any UK literature of them being memory seats. And I don’t think they’re a pointless luxury, my wife and I have different driving positions, so on the contrary, I think they’re incredibly useful and am disappointed that our car may not have them.

Ah sorry!

The electric seats on the Max and the Tour were listed as having memory in several VW price lists between July and September. Hence the topic 😀

Hi Andrew. I had memory seats on my first BMW Z4 in 2004. Amazing. My Son had one key and me the other. The seat would automatically position itself based on what key was used. They have been around a long time. My Son still has that car.

OK, just for clarity, I know what memory seats are! Our 2019 BMW X3 has them. Our Porsche however has electric adjustment but no memory function.

My question was; are these even a thing (on the ID.3)? The current brochure doesn't mention them and I've not seen a car that has them.

VW claimed they were part of the spec in at least the brochure from 1-Jul-2021 :

But on the current brochure effective from 23/09/2021, it simply states –

Interior Style Plus seats
Front seats with 12-way electric and 2-way manual adjustment including massage function
Polestar 2 / Midnight / Plus / 20s
VW up! GTI / Tungsten

Well the Tour I had an extended test drive in had electrically adjustable seats with massage....no memory that I could find unless it is buried in a sub menu somewhere.

To be honest I think electric seats are a bit of a waste. I have them on the current car and they never move except forward and back a tad as she has longer legs and arms 🙃

But massage I am looking forward to!

The massage is surprisingly satisfying!! Electric seats work for us as it's not just backwards and forwards, up and down and incline.
