Aircon problem is back

I reported back in December 2020 regarding the aircon not working and after 3 visits they eventually diagnosed and fixed it.

Well, it’s back.

I started noticing the hissing sounds a week or so ago but today it was hot and the aircon is no longer working.

Mutter.

More news as it goes back to the dealer.

Another month before they can fit us in.

Very worried about this once warranty expires.

Hope nothing too serious and they get a more permanent fix for it this time…

Last time they had cameras and everything, replaced the whole venting system. There's a steady hiss of gas, which is delightfully reassuring.

Been in for over a week now.

Update from the garage (I kid you not) - “it appears no cold air is coming through…”

They report there is no gas in the aircon, and the tubing is misaligned. This is exactly the same problem as a year ago which is telling me something is structurally misaligned (without knowing anything)

Once repaired (eta another month) we’ll be looking for a guarantee somehow.

If you hear hissing, outside of normal change of temp, take it in. Who knows where the gas was going!

On the plus side, we’ve a free T-Roc until fixed.

The clock continues to tick.

Have now spent more on fuel for the free replacement car this last month than for the last 32k km of electricity!

The entire aircon system is to be replaced.

A bit pants really.

Crikey, that seems extreme.

Blimey, I hope they've got all the parts available for you. Seems a bit sledgehammer for a nut response!

I think I might know the answer to this but are they helping out with that fuel cost? And maybe they should swap the fossil car for an EV.

Yeh, extreme is an understatement. They have been waiting for 3-4 weeks for whatever they ordered so it doesn’t seem impossible. We’ll see when we review the report.

Regarding a replacement EV, this is a helpful dealer and they tried hard to get us something, just couldn’t, and I believe them on that.

Similarly with the fuel, I’ll report back on that when the car is back!

Car is now back. They did indeed replace everything, including all vents and tubing.

They informed us that they have no idea what the problem was, so had little option other than to replace it all.

Nearly a month with the dealer... fingers crossed it survives the summer.

Not exactly comforting that 😂

Correct!!

They were sympathetic to our point that the petrol for the rental they gave us over that last month exceeded the cost of charging for the last 17 months by 3x, but not so sympathetic as to do anything about it :D

Saying that, we did get the car for "free".

For closure, aircon is working correctly and no hissing sounds. That is the warning sign, if you hear hissing then there’s a fault. Despite what they tell you 😀
