Android Auto no longer connecting

I have been using Android Auto on my ID3 for some time, but in the past week it has stopped connecting. The phone seems to think it's fine but while the car can connect to my phone, it doesn't see that it has Android Auto. This is for wireless and USB.

My phone recently updated to Android 12. The car had a couple of minor updates, but just to We Charge I think.

I have restarted my phone. I have made the car and phone forget each other and connected afresh.

The car is on 2.3 (I only today found I have to make an appointment to get 2.4: I'd been waiting for the garage to contact me.)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

And now it's working again. There was a mini update meantime so perhaps they fixed whatever they broke

Android Auto on my Golf 7.5 was wobbly for a couple of weeks recently ....
