Hello troops,

The charger I'm using is a public 22kw AC.

I bought a new type2 3 phase 11kw cable hoping that would charge at 11kw, but it only gave 3.5/4kw.

The cable that came with the car (22 plate) is yellow but I don't know what rating it is, charges at 7kw.

How do I charge at the 11kw rate on type 2?

Are you certain the charger is 22kw? Check what others have commented on zapmap.
Long shot but if it's a podpoint, note that they restrict the charge rate until after you have confirmed the charge in the app. (And some of them don't deliver what they say anyway).

If you use the correct cable then it should charge at 11kw by default. Just make sure you haven't selected the "reduced AC charging power" option in the charging menu when you are there. Or check in the app (main settings menu).

The cable needs to be 22kw rated. A 7kw cable is 32A/single phase and an 11kw cable 16A/three phase. To be able to do both 7kw on a single phase charger and 11kw on a 3 phase charger you need a 32A/three phase cable, even though the car can't take the full 22kw. This is what should have been delivered with the car.

I suspect your 3-phase newly acquired cable is faulty and/or not what it is labelled, if the 3.5kW and the 7kW you mention are at about the same time.

In principle you could check its nature with a multimeter, holding both ends up and testing how many of the phase "pins" are actually connected to the other end.

I visit and have access to a 22kW charger and all I did was plug (the yellow cable that came with the car) in, and up came 11kW.

Thanks very much!

I think the original yellow type 2 cable may be faulty. I will try cleaning the pins. Will also try on another 22kw charger to make sure its definitely the cable (or car!)
