This probably mentioned elsewhere on the forum, but with some many posts on IOG it is quite buried and I couldn't see it.

If I plug my car in and IOG sets up a smart schedule where it charges my car during the day, it should be at a cheap rate as it's doing things when electricity is cheap? Even though my tariff says 23:30 to 05:30 for the cheap rates.

I only ask because I am looking at the Octopus app and for the charging that I did yesterday, it is showing as full day rate price for my usage.

Does that get updated at the end of the month to reflect that they decided to charge my car during the day through their smart schedule?

I have a MyEnergi Zappi charger.

Hi Wisey78uk
I've just plugged mine in (15.30) but the schedule says it won't charge until 23.30.
This seems normal to me. However I've seen it charge outside the 23.30 to 05.30 slot, and when I see the bill, it's at the 7p rate for the overnight period.
So, I cannot say absolutely, but that’s been my experience so far.

As long as it is set up correctly then you will be charged at the low rate when the car is smart charging. However it's worth checking your bill the first time. The live app prices in the Octopus app don't reflect the correct price.
If the Octopus app isn't showing the right tariff or if the car isn't charging iaw the smart schedule shown in the Octopus app after plugging in, it probably hasn't set up correctly.

Ah grand! Thanks for that. I will check my bill in a few weeks. App shows the right tariff and I don't hit bump charge 👍

Thanks, puts my mind at ease. It means I can wind her in doors up as she's £75 for a tank vs £6 for me 😍 and we get similar mileage...

I use the Octo-aid app to track mine. Whenever I plug in in the mornings, Octopus has always offered a smart charge until 11am. I usually take the opportunity to do a washing or run the tumble dryer.

Next day, the usage shows in the Octo-aid app. I can then tag those half hour slots as “smart charge” and that way I can keep a close eye on what we are really spending vs the Octopus App. My bill always marries up at the end of the month more or less.

I don't think you get the cheap electricity for your whole house, just for what Octopus puts in your car as it can track that via the charger.

But it wouldn't be unknown for me to be completely wrong 🤪

Fair enough. I get the cheap electricity for the whole house 23:30 to 05:30, but I didn't realise that when Octopus put cheap leccy in the car during the day, the whole house gets cheap rate too.

That's pretty good for IOG. I thought that was only on Agile.
