Hello from a classic grey January Oxford,

In October I ordered an ID 3 Life Pro Performance, Manganese Grey with the steelies, (I cannot believe it comes standard with steelies ! but hey ho, I actually don't think they look that bad)

Sort of wishing I went for the matrix LED lights as I've just seen some demos of them on YouTube and thought they looked awesome...but not currently affordable for me I think. I test drove both the pro and the performance and just felt I had to get the nippier motor.

Was initially told by the dealer it would likely be a Feb build, but have just been updated it is now to be May due to model year updates. Not quite sure what these entail for the Life trim but hoping they stick a backlight on those climate control sliders as I have read somewhere on here could be happening.

Best wishes

I completely agree that Oxford today is flat grey ☺️ (we're 10 mins in the car dead North of Oxford)

Life MY22.5 trims get a plusher dashboard and door cards. The infotainment remains at 10" with no slider backlighting being claimed by VW. At least you're confirmed as getting the "plusher" trim, however I don't think anyone actually knows what the new trim looks like yet!

Welcome to the forum.. don't fret about those backlights, in fact I suspect if they ever appear people will regret asking.. the middle (Volume) is on the Steering wheel and therefore more convenient and the temperature controls can be located with muscle memory in a short time, especially if you need to adjust them that often. :)

10" infotainment is more than enough for me. I am coming from a VW Up so will be experiencing quite significant upgrades in every department. Onwards to even plusher and plusherer trims!

I think in all honesty my slider anxiety comes only from the YouTube reviews I've seen. In my brief time with the car, thought the sliders were alright to be honest.

Speaking of Oxford, I was at Oxford services yesterday and as usual a queue for the crappy ecotricity machine. However, all 16 Tesla chargers were in use too, with more Teslas waiting. This did soothe my annoyance somewhat .

Sometime in the near future the superhub should be opening at the park and ride to the south of the city. Not that close to Oxford services though.

While I'm all in favour of more charge points, what on earth possesses Oxford City Council to not prioritise EV chargers at Water Eaton (Oxford Parkway Park & Ride) as well ? Far as I know there isn't a single charging point there.

In this case I think it's the location available closest to the existing power station. They dug up the side of the southern bypass to lay all the cables. Maybe they'll eventually go the other way around the ring road to get to Parkway?

North Oxford there's only the one at the Peartree services (which was fine when I had a Zoe but I think I've read is all but useless for other cars if you want a fast charge) and then the BP ones at Kidlington and Yarnton. There is a wider Oxfordshire initiative putting more in car parks, including at Bicester, I think.
