Hi everyone, I've read some good discussions and information being shared so I have finally got around to posting this intro.
I ordered a Family Pro Performance in Moonstone Grey with 18" East Derry Alloys back in October via Autoebid after seeing a post on this forum.
I drove VW ID.3 and Tesla Model 3s and went for ID.3 as it better fitted our needs and I wasn't in a hurry so accepted the 6 month wait vs 2 months (ID.3 ordered mid Oct with dealer quoting end of March for delivery). However isn't hindsight great; the waiting time for ID.3 seems to have increased from 6 to 10 months and now I wish I'd just ordered the Tesla
The question is will I get my car before the summer roadtrip I've booked across France in Sept? Who knows....fingers crossed!
Thanks to @Utumno for maintaining his order tracker, very interesting and depressing at the same time
Cheers Peter
Happy New Year from Essex

Having driven both, what does an ID.3 give you that a Tesla Model 3 does not, except extra money in your pocket? I am interested.Peter_2947 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 8:39 am

The ID.3 is 43cm shorter which proved to be a major factor for me as we have to reverse our car round the corner of our house to be able to leave our drive forwards (required as we are on main road). I had the Model 3 on an overnight loan and found in comparison that it was very tight and would be a complete pain on day to day basis. Secondly the ID.3 boot shape/tailgate is much more practical, for example, I can fit my bike in the back without needing to lower the seat post every time, not possible in Model 3. I also preferred the ACC in ID.3 to M3.
Cost was definitely a factor but the higher purchase cost of M3 is offset by better residuals. Both cars have gone up in price since I ordered, the ID.3 due to removal of finance incentive and government grant and the M3 had a £2K list price increase. That £2K increase in M3 price plus the shear number of white M3's I see has stopped me jumping that way. (Tesla contacted me last week and they still have avaliability of standard range cars for end of March.)

Matrix Headlights
Build quality
Seat comfort
HUD
Covered reversing camera
More than adequate acceleration and top speed for my needs
Hatchback
Intelligent regen with auto coast ability
ID.3 Tour 77kWh Pro S 204PS | Stone washed Blue | 19" Andoya Black Alloy Wheels | Wallbox Home Charger
I guess you could add local dealers for issues. This is what puts me off a Tesla (lack of local dealers) and I don't really like the shape.stevieboy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 11:21 amI would say:-Cherry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 9:20 amHaving driven both, what does an ID.3 give you that a Tesla Model 3 does not, except extra money in your pocket? But, I would not put a Model 3 and ID.3 in the same bracket. I would put a Tesla and BMW i4 in the same bracket.

Its the hatchback. I think if a Model 2 is released as a hatch that will put the ID3 under pressure not the model 3.Cherry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 9:20 amHaving driven both, what does an ID.3 give you that a Tesla Model 3 does not, except extra money in your pocket? I'm one of the lucky few where the nearest Tesla dealership is closer than nearest VW however I agree on the other points.
I prefer the looks of the Cupra Born but then I live in Essex
