I ordered my car 3rd week in December and it still hasn’t arrived. 2 weeks ago the dealers told me it was built and at the dock in Germany.

Is anyone else encountering this?

My ID3 arrived in the UK on Tuesday, it was built and at Emden on 09 March. To be fair, it had no allocated buyer until 29 March when the dealership reserved it for me, so was apparently deprioritised for shipping until that time.

On that basis, I'd expect 4 weeks for it to get to the UK.

As far as I'm aware, my car hasn't made it to the dealership group yet, so picking it up next weekend is looking unlikely at this point.

I called the dealership on Monday. They told me that the car is now at sea, it should arrive in the U.K. on Tuesday or Wednesday. So I have progress. How long is the process to get it to the dealers once landed?

Thanks.

Depends a lot on the UK port, the proximity of your dealership to the port and the size of the dealership group.

Cars coming into Tyne rather than Grimsby or Sheerness move very quickly to the 2 local groups of Lookers/Benfield and Pulman. My Dad picked up his 2013 MK7 Golf GTD from Pulman Sunderland 3 days after it got to port of Tyne.

My ID3 arrived at Grimsby last Tuesday, don't know if it's arrived at Listers Groups' PDI centre yet. Was hoping to pick it up this Saturday, but I personally think it's looking doubtful.

^ Update. Got my stage 7 notification this morning and the car is at the PDI centre. Hoping to pick up Saturday (subject to confirmation by the salesman that he can get everything sorted by tomorrow (Friday is his day off, Saturday he's mainly concerned with securing new sales).

Thanks everyone for your posts.

The car finally arrived at the Tyne port. The sales say it will take up to 10 days to get it to the dealers then they do the PDI and the rest, then after all that I can finally take delivery.

I reckon 2 weeks to wait, then I can drive rather than watch videos of other people driving it :D

Hi
Hope all goes well with the handover, the videos are nothing like personal experience and I’m sure you will develop your own personal style of driving it (there are sooo many different opinions)
The main one being B or D mode ( I swap when needed)
And driving mode ( I use eco then swap to sport to overtake)
And I’m sure others will disagree with my preferences so try lots and go with what’s comfortable for you.
Oh and keep posting it’s always good to hear from others

Which dealership are you picking up from? Tyne cars usually move really quick to Newcastle/Silverlink/Hexham/Teesside Lookers and Sunderland/Durham Pulman branches. 10 days seems a very cautious estimate within Tyne and Wear region, maybe not for Scotland.

Maybe the ID3 is the exception to the rule as an EV, but my last 5 VWs/Audis have had an eco mode on them that offers almost no mpg gains but seriously dulls the throttle to the point it's not worth bothering with, and you end up leaving it in Sport and press the throttle less.

On my 20.min test drive, I tried tried both D and B, and much preferred D. I'd rather coast when coming off the throttle than have the car rapidly lose speed through the regen braking effect. In D mode, when you brake, up to about 0.25G, you're actually regenning, so there's no penalty in D even though some may imagine that you're using the brakes more in D mode.

Hi, does anyone use the adaptive cruise control? It seems really good from the videos I’ve watched, but I would appreciate other people’s point of view.

Depends on how much disassociation you want with the car and how much you look ahead and anticipate the road ahead. I've had ACC for 4 of my last 5 cars and only put it on through average speed camera zones to maintain 50/40 through roadworks. Generally I don't use cruise control, and anticipate the road better than ACC, coming off the accelerator when I see cars slowing down ahead etc. Some people completely rely on it, but most of these recent drivers aids are wasted on me - maybe it's handy for putting make up on or doing a jigsaw whilst driving...

ACC is viewed very favourably by most insurers for preventing you crashing into the car in front if it jumps on the brakes, hence most cars with ACC have relatively cheap insurance, even with performance (my Golf R was pretty cheap to insure).

Yes. I use it all the time. I had ACC on my Tiguan and got used to using that pretty much all the time. It was much less 'intelligent' on the Tig and in some respects I preferred that. If I set it to 33mph it didn't sneakily drop it to 30mph when I wasn't looking.

Bump on this thread…

Ordered a bog standard Life Pro on Monday 14th June (told it was ‘in stock’) - given delivery date of 30th June. Checked today via the VW chat and it’s waiting to be shipped… chat person said it normally takes a couple of weeks to be shipped from that status - so I probably shouldn’t be too hopeful about the 30th… right? 😁

I was almost in your exact situation. Ordered Life Pro Performance that was built and sat in Emden, on 29th March. Promised April Delivery. Ended up getting in May 8th because it took ages to get onto a ship. Once it's on a ship, you could potentially have it within a week to 10 days.

Just had notification from the dealer that its 'on the ship'. Fingers crossed for some time next week (may even make the estimated delivery date of 30th...)

I have an ID.3 on order and due for delivery any day now. I currently have a 2021 Tiguan Ellegance and use the adaptive cruise control often. It is very clever and a little scary as it uses the radar and nav to know what is going on. It slows as you approach bends and roundabouts. This all happens whilst it keeps a set distance between you and the car in front. Very futuristic, but fun. Add in the adaptive matrix headlights and it is like a Sci Fi movie
