So I've tried a couple of charge point installers and they wont touch it.

To explain,
The parking space is at the end of the garden, 40 metres from the consumer unit. There is no way through the house for the cable (full width extension on a terrace house) and so the cabling needs to go up into the attic, through the loft space and out through the back wall of the house. The consumer unit is in a small space and has no spare spaces so a new unit would be required in addition to the existing one and the meter moving to fit it.

Most have said it's too big a job for them, and particularly that they are not insured for working at height.

So the options are to get a separate electrician to do the work and them call them back or to make do with a granny charger off the shed power. We have half a dozen on street chargers within 100 yards so I may also try to use them when I need.

Any suggestions welcome.

It all depend how much you want to charge. If it's just for topping off every night then why not use the shed power (if usable for long term load but that can a sparky check for you) with a charge box (granny charger) running say 10Amp max
If more charge is needed use the public charger

I'd likely find an electrician willing to run the cable; most EV-specific installers only seem interested in simple/high profit/fast jobs rather than following customer specifications. After all, it is only a cable run with electrical gubbins at either end ... not exactly complex.

Mr Charger won't touch it due to the going through the loft, they've suggested I run the cabling myself.

Not 100% sure on what cables to use so more investigation needed.
