Interesting, this is the graph from charging at home on our 11kw/h 3-phase

There's been a discussion in other forums about charging speeds and the fact that the ID.3 has a 400v system and some chargers (for example some Instavolts) have a limit of 200A, thereby limiting the rate to 80 kW in those situations. As confirmed by EvNotify for my 100kW charging i was getting just a tad under 250A at just over 400v.

🤯

I really need to bone up on the physics/maths of this to make those numbers and units make sense in my head. I’m sure they are, but all the conversions from watts to amps to volts and back again currently goes straight in the “nope” bitbucket!

has anyone hit that advertised 100kwh ?

Advertised charge speeds are "up to", as it depends on the state of charge.
See expected Charge Curve in EV database: https://ev-database.uk/car/1202/Volkswagen-ID3-Pro

The lower the battery charge, the faster it charges. Which is why EV navigator planners like ABRP https://abetterrouteplanner.com/, when optimising for journey time, will almost never advise charging beyond 80% at planned charging stops, and will plan for the battery to run as low as possible before charging, e.g. 10% (configurable). And which is also why some say (and I agree) that charging rates (£ per KWh) at rapid chargers should be variable and get higher above 80%, and switch from "per KWh" to "per minute" after fully charged, to incentivise people to free the charger for others to use.

Interesting as your charge curve suggests slow down after 80%, mine kept going at 40 kw after 80% until 85, then I stopped charge.

Fastest ever was 84kw I believe at a 150kw shell charger just outside of chipping Norton with 14%. But it's all relative. Most of the time I'm getting around 50 when I charge outside the home due to the fact I have 50%

What’s the best way of determining charge speeds? Xan the car or We Connect app show you? I’m always curious what it’s actually charging at when I’m on a 50kw or 100kw charger.

Check on the charger display
Do some maths with the mph figure shown on the car or in the We Connect ID. app
Create a Tronity account and look in their app or website

The charger and your car may both measure incorrectly - and energy is lost in the charging process, so it may take 11kwh to add 10kwh to the battery etc…

Anyway here’s my record :) 91-92kw from the new MFG place in Stretford. 15-40% in ten min.

Sorry for the newb question, but does that SoC graph you quoted get generated by the "WeConnect ID." app or something else ?

The graphs posted in this thread look like they're from the Tronity website (they also have an app) - you can link your car with your We Connect ID. account details: https://app.tronity.io/login

Yup. Tronity. It’s clunky but works. Needs your WeConnectID Login.

A glimpse of what WeConnect could be like… 🤦‍♂️

Thanks all, I'm not really feeling the need for another monthly/yearly subscription in my life just to look at some graphs though. My inner Yorkshireman (adopted) is balking at the price just for the charge graphs!

It's free for ID.3 at the moment as the functionality is limited.

It also then feeds your soc and consumption into ABRP. But for me at least that seems very hit and miss. Which is a shame.

We saw 124 kW at an Ionity charger in France.
