My confirmed build week 49 car has moved to status 30 yesterday.

The car I thought would be come a figment of my imagination might actually arrive. Still time for that to change though lol.
Excellent news. Probably going on the same ship, if going to Sheerness anyway.

Did anyone see the ship that caught fire on the way to the US from Emden ? Porsche & VW's on board - https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/busi ... n-vehicles

I enquired about delivery (we are 250 ish miles away from the dealer) & it is basically delivered via someone driving it up rather than on a truck. I don't like the idea of that, so we will be going to collect :-) Hardest bit is not being able to book train tickets\hotel in advance.

This sounds encouraging as it seems VW expect an easing of the chip supply situation as the year progresses and increasing production in 2nd half:

I ordered the family pro on the 5th November 2021. I received an email from my dealer Lookers blackburn on the 7th February to say VW had approved to build the id3 but as of yet no wk build date available. I'm a disabled customer and currently have BMW 216 that is great but costing a fortune to now run with fuel cost so high. Is it worth looking at other makes and models for quicker delivery times or do all manufacturers have the same issue. Any help great appreciated.

Update from my dealer, I am no longer assigned a build week (although remain status 10?). Please can the tracker be updated?

Shortages of rear lights (family spec) and upholstery are the reasons given. Clearly one can be affected by a chip shortage but the other isn't...

Unless you can afford a Polestar or Tesla, electric options are pretty limited if you would like to have anything delivered within 6 months from my research.

Listers the worst for lead times? Or just lack of information? I'm listers too....
Hi Hemming91,

I would not say Lister is the worst, even confirm build week can be changed. I guess, Lister don't want to give mis-leading information and managing their customer expectation.

The call I had with the lady also confirm the information on order is changing daily, I wonder it is not settled until your order is actually start to be built.

As this is a 1st world problem, I am happy to wait as not really any EV is comparable in term of price and specification especially if you order pre-dec 2021.

Thanks

Not strictly true, they're quoting May for the Model 3 Performance!

Yes, I think our car is in that same muddy field slowly sinking...while cars built after ours roll out the factory...

I also live quite a way from my dealer, not checked mileage but estimate same ballpark, for my last car (same dealer, 3 years ago) I enquired about using transporter and they quoted me £300 for it to be brought on flatbed. In the end I went with free option of a bloke driving it up - he asked for a lift to the train station after (a VERY brief) handover. That was an ICE car so curious what they'll do with EV. If he turns up with minimal range he'll be walking to station.

Assuming a Motability order, your only real alternative is a Kona. Even then you're looking at 3-6 months.

Hi all, I have a life pure performance on order from zenith (lookers) on a salary sacrifice scheme. Was originally meant to be here in January but eventually has now been pushed back to June at the earliest. Was ordered around the 16th August last year and my order number is 3143**** if you want to add it to the tracker.

I’ve also had that plus they are short of steel. Any excuse I believe is going to be used
