Could you please add my order to the list

Business Pro 58kw
Moonstone Grey
Ordered through VW Western Motors (Ireland)
Order date: 10/11/2021
I’ve got an order number of 18097/0 but seems to be a different format to others so not sure if this is the same reference number.
Estimated delivery: no idea, was told May when ordered and haven’t heard a thing from the dealership. Their communication has been pretty terrible. Haven’t even got a single email to say it has been pushed (which objectively it definitely is). What kind of info should they be able to provide at this stage?

Your dealer will have access to a VW system that has a status code. That status code will either be 00, 10 or 20 right now. If the status code is 10 or 20, there will be a week number and a year number as well.

Status 10 means a tentative build commencement date, status 20 means a confirmed build commencement date. It's perfectly possible to move from 00 to 10 to 20 and back again as build dates change.

When the status 20 build commencement date comes around, that's when your build time clock starts. Build time is currently anywhere from 8 weeks to infinity. Once your vehicle escapes the factory and gets a status 30 code, that's when you should be starting your 30-60 day timer for it to get from the factory to your drive.

Hope this helps, even though I know it doesn't really help because build times are currently potentially infinite...

I cancelled my Tour a couple of weeks back, sadly. It was ordered in August but had a provisional week 24 (end of June) build which was only going to slip further with news from Ukraine. As Utumno has said, none post week 40 last year have escaped the factory. A Kia EV6 GT Line is being delivered next Monday instead. Right colour with heat pump. I will post a few pics.

Ordered 21.8.21
Order No: 314400**
Build week 24 unconfirmed
Delivery Q4 2022 delayed from Q1 2022
Cancelled order and replaced with in stock Kia EV6

They said that's the official position but they are waiting to hear whether existing deals will be honoured by the "brand" or by the Gov if deliveries exceed 12 months given the unusual circumstances and the impact its had world wide.
What's the opinion?
For those of us with grant orders, will deals be honoured or will we have to pay more?
I'm in the same situation with Vertu
The have stated the price will be protected but the grant is a grey area
It's not been an issue before
The government if they can will avoid paying it
The fact it's price protected I'm not so sure VW will double dip the discount with £2500 plus additional protection

Let's be honest if you say fuck it I am not paying extra there will be plenty of people behind you willing to snap the car up at a vastly inflated price as now 90% of the range has vanished anything non life spec will command a premium price and dealers will be rubbing there hands in delight

Well, If the grant isn’t honoured it becomes unaffordable to me - so I will have no alternative but to bow out.

I think that's the same for me. If I knew now the monthly price was going to be greater I would probably make very different plans.
Probably hang onto my 2020 ID3, buy it at the end of the PCP . The balloon payment was very low. I need to look but think it was around £17k.

Can I just check - the grant you are talking about, is this the £2500 which applied to cars <£35000? Ie the cars from Family and below? Ie not Max and Tours. If so, is priority build being given to those cars to get them delivered within 12 months (so the grant will be available). I think I was always under the illusion the the Max and Tours weren't arriving because of shortages. Now, I can't help wondering if its grant related?

Yes, mine’s a Life Pro Performance with alloys and a paint option, but was ordered in early October and qualified for the £2,500 government EV grant that was in place at that time.
I’m waiting to for an update from the dealer, but it is currently provisionally scheduled for the build to commence in week 38 - 19th to 25th September. At the moment, the build week is just the time scheduled when building could commence, and many cars at the moment are ‘in-build’ for up to 10 weeks. If one then adds a further 6 - 8 weeks for delivery, this takes takes me into the new year 2023, over a year after the grant regulations changed.
If it no longer qualifies for the grant, the pcp cost is likely to be an additional £45.00 per month, so it would no longer be a realistic option.

Yes on my order. Its a Life Pro Perf. The idea that priority is given to build vehicles that have a grant in the deal is a nice thought for me but I think in grand scheme of things it's neither here nor there.
I honestly believe they are getting everything out of the factory based on what can be completed.

I don’t buy the component shortage excuse any longer for either Tour or Max orders. Monday next weeks marks the six month anniversary of our Tour’s build date. If you believe our dealer VW haven’t changed it, the build has started, it’s awaiting components and nobody has any idea when the vehicle will leave the factory.

Six months.

Let’s face it, VW either can’t make the vehicle or is choosing not to make the vehicle and I know which option my money would go on.

I highly doubt the VW production line takes into account the government grants in the UK. We've already seen that there are significant differences between delays in UK orders and the mainland Europe orders. I remember someone was on here who had a Tour delivery something like 4 months after order and it was delivered early in 2022.

I'm convinced that VW has no where near enough production capacity even under the best circumstances and it's only been made worse by the Cupra, ID5 and Audi vehicles coming on stream

Yep lack of production capacity, so they have to prioritise what to build. If they have sold based on reduced price due to grant who pays the difference? Govt may not (or may not be giving clarity), so customers will the tell VW that they expect VW to pay or else another major pr disaster. So, prioritise cars that were getting the grant.

Demand is so high right now, they don't really care about bad headlines. They could cut demand about half or more and still have people waiting months for delivery of their cars

I had an email from the dealer yesterday, still no build week!!! I ordered in October 2021
Will this go to the back of the order queue when allocated a build week? Or slot into a certain run, I.e spec and colour?

It’s off putting if the car is over 12 month delivery & the grant is lost personally.

And VW can almost build three 58kWh cars with the same number of battery cells as it would take to build two 77kWh cars.

There's a video from fully charged from the factory where they make a big point about the fact the automation does not care about spec and the line can happily build an ID3 followed by a cupra followed by an Audi.

I wonder if all the Tours and Max's that were built last year and are sitting half-finished and gathering dust in a carpark somewhere at the factory have the battery packs installed. I would hope not really

We had the VW letter last week and contacting our dealer they said they can't give us a timescale of when the car will turn up.
Ordered last Oct so early next year if we are lucky!
I have been talking to my wife that we will give it until the end of the year and if it doesn't look like we are closer to getting the car we will jump ship.
