Looking forward to getting it and experiencing electric motoring and finally finding out if the charger I installed months ago actually works!
I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering if my charger works!
Me too!
Podpoint installed Feb 22
We had our Pod Point installed just after ordering at the beginning of September ‘21, luckily we got an EV as a courtesy car when our Qashqai was serviced. I can happily report I am no longer a home charge virgin despite being on the worlds longest waiting list for an EV 😂

Delivery due March ‘22
Updated to April ‘22
Updated again to November ’22

I had my charger fitted in October following a push from the leasing company. Still no news and like wise I do wonder if it’s a glorified wall mounted ornament or the wall box functions. Time will tell if ever they decide to build my car and or tell the truth…

Glad to see I'm not alone in having a Zappi charger bolted to my wall that has never been used.

Have had a few of the neighbours ask why I have an EV charger when I drive a V8 and don't have an EV. :)

Did you have a build week at all? Or did it just turn up
Zenith told me it was being built at the end of June when I prodded them for an update in early June. From reading the build sheet that came with the car it seems the car was actually built on the 13th June so not sure how that happened. I got a phone call from Marshalls last week to organise delivery after nudging Zenith again for an update.

Found one issue with the car so far, it's refusing to go online.

Spider is making use of my Hypervolt now also. I know it works at least as my grandad used it once to charge his hybrid. For me it's more of a wall ornament I use to light up my driveway. Neighbour asked me if my Golf TDI is electric :D

I spoke to the sales man in my dealership yesterday and got the bad news that the build date on my car has slipped by another week to 41, that's now 35 weeks later than the initial date that I was given. I really don't understand how VW work out which cars to build, when cars ordered after mine with the same specification have already been built and cars with similar order dates to mine have build weeks way earlier.

Can anyone recommend a dumb charger? I need a second charger for work but don't want something with all the bells and whistles. It doesn't need to be smart, just something to plug in and go.

The law just changed and all newly installed chargers now have to be smart. This is to allow charging to be scheduled in a way that manages peak grid demand in future. You won't find anyone to install a dumb one for you unless they are a friend and willing to risk a fine.

I think closest you'll get is a 3 pin plug!

I'm not sure if this applies to Northern Ireland but I'll ask.

Deja vu !
I can just feel the smart meter fiasco coming on all over again. By the time the Gov get their act together, half the companies that sold chargers will have gone out of business and the smart functionality will go dumb ....

Any yes, NI is excluded : regs are here : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/regulations ... rge-points

So I guess it's a commando for me then? Though I'll have to pay 300 for the lead and a few 100 for the other bits and pieces. Might as well go for a cheap smart charger I think.

I’m still unsure on what charger to go for, don’t have Solar panels and unlikely to in this house as the wife wants to move in the next 2/3 years, so yeah thinking something cheap ish although the Hypervolt doesn’t look to bad as far as chargers go.

I got quotes for a few, generally comes down to whether you want tethered or untethered. I went with tethered as wouldn't be bothered to get the cable out the car every time.

If you plan on moving I'd think about how easy it'll be to move it to your new house. Otherwise you'll have to spend ~£1k again to fit a new one.
