You’d hope you’d get it confirmed soon!

Wouldn't be surprised tbh. Although I wonder what causes it to change. My dealer told me that my build week got pushed forward recently from week 45 to week 42 so who knows where they get it from

Biggest frustration is their inability to even attempt to manage expectations. If you’re told it’s going to be 6 months then fair enough, you can make the decision whether to cancel. Issue I have found is poor communication from the dealership, then them getting narky when picked up on lack of communication and forgetting the lies they’ve already told, VW also have no interest at all and it seems to be a game to stop you cancelling the order.

It’s not great and to be honest if the home charger hadn’t been installed I’d probably have kept my money!

I'm not really following the logic. You say you ordered start of June and were quoted a September delivery. You also say your car has left the factory in late August, so I'd expect a late September delivery at worst. What part of your expectations haven't been managed or met ?

Well provisional builds assume that parts are going to be available based on supplier forecasts, and staff are going to be available based on staff availability plans. COVID is playing havoc with manufacturing, delivery and people on assembly lines. It's hardly a surprise dates move around seemingly randomly given how much of what I just wrote is basically equivalent to vehicular component Brownian motion.

I understand fully where you are coming from with this. I am due to pick up our ID3 tomorrow and the salesman just rang to say that the PCP documents haven’t been authorised. Rubbish. I have copies of the signed and approved documents. On calling his manager, it seems he was wrong. All is Ok.
I really thought the VW network was better than this.

I had similar with mine - whilst in the dealer with the keys in my hand :D they got it sorted out there and then.... was an all electronic workflow anyway...

We decided on the ID.3 a little bit late, so where told (early August) if we did a factory order (Max) it's likely to be late Q1 possibly Q2 2022+

I know it's frustrating but the company I work for is struggling hugely down to not only the silicon shortage but general shortages in components and even materials such as aluminium..

We only make 300-500 products a year and everyday I have 2-3 new 'shortages' thrown on my desk to deal with.. We have extended our lead times from 8 weeks to 36 weeks minimum this year which causes problems with customers, but honestly, we are working flat out to resolve these and some components scheduled in suddenly get cancelled with an 18 month lead time then specified.. this makes us either change the component or change the design to use another component.

I imagine it's on a whole new level for automotive manufacturers and despite their buying power and supply chain weight, they must be hurting!

Further to previous post of a 14 August order with a February or March delivery-dealer tells me they are now quoting quarter 2 in 2022 for any new orders now.

It got me reading Wikipedia on the Trabant, and I found a couple more similarities with the ID.3:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant wrote:Known for its dull colour scheme [...]

Turquoise apart, I think the ID.3 colour scheme would make the Trabant proud. :-)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant wrote:The free market price for a second-hand one [Trabant] was more than twice the price of a new one

Currently, one-year-old cars can be more expensive than new cars (Lunatic used car valuations). OK, not more than twice the price, but the waiting time for the ID.3 is also not as long as the 10 to 13 years waiting time for the Trabant. Not yet, anyway.

And of course, both made in Germany (ish). Luckily that's where I think the similarities end:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant wrote:The engine produced a very smoky exhaust and was a significant source of air pollution: nine times the hydrocarbons and five times the carbon-monoxide emissions of the average 2007 European car. [...] Since the engine was two-stroke, oil had to be added to the 24-litre fuel tank at a 50:1 (or 33:1) ratio of fuel to oil at each fill-up. [...] Earlier models had no fuel gauge, and a dipstick was inserted into the tank to determine how much fuel remained.

At least on the tech, we've come a long way: microchips everywhere! Except in VW's factories. :-)

I've just been speaking to my dealer and his last order for an ID.3 had a provisional build week of week 2 2022, so that's 20 weeks till the provisional build and the way things are I bet that will be pushed back.
Mine is still provisionally booked for week 39 which will get put back as its now within the 4 weeks you usually get a build confirmed.

I ordered my iD3 in early July and dealer found a Factory Order in Scale Silver due in Sept - quicker than choosing any special colour or any extras which meant delivery around December.

Just off phone to dealer and car is at "Status 30", supposedly in transit and should be here in two to three weeks.

Has anyone any idea what Status 30 really means?

Not that I can wheedle a provisional build date out of my dealer contact, so I have even less info to work with than you ! Still hoping the vehicle will turn up in December.

Sounds like we’re all excited waiting for our new ID.3. I can’t wait for mine but happy to wait until March.
