Sorry all but my VW salesman was pretty rubbish when I picked up the car yesterday, so I might have a few questions.
Regarding the toolkit. Is there supposed to be a jack? Or just this gunk that you squirt in a flat tyre?

No jack, no pump. The exact content depends on your wheel/tyre size, as you mentioned gunk that suggests yours are 18"
