£6500 for a salvaged 58kwh battery pack on eBay…

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-ID-3-58kW ... 635-2958-0

Does make me wonder if there will be a ‘market’ for pinching electric cars for spares…

I’ll take the alloys 😉

I was trying to decide if an electric car is more or less attractive to criminals

I do think charging cable theft will become an issue having seen the cost of them!

You forgot to add the VAT - they want £7860!

Audi S3 - because I hate rapid charging for long distance driving.

Ouch. What I would worry about, justifiably or not, is invisible internal damage to a battery that suffered a high-impact collision. The following "rescue datasheet" PDF file from Volkswagen, in section 8, reads that a towed ID.3 that was involved in an accident should be parked "at a safe distance, at least 5m, from buildings and other vehicles (quarantine area)" and goes on to warn that "Lithium-ion batteries can self-ignite, or re-ignite after a fire has been extinguished."

Wow.. 108 miles range on what looks to be 70+% charge, stolen and driven hard?

Would make a nice battery for my battery backup. also I wonder if you could use it as a source for a Home CCS charger for those occasions where you need immediate turnaround.
Although I would love the whole lot to stick in my Eunos/MX5 as a project.. they'll be cheap enough soon...
