Hi all

Has anyone had any experience stainproofing the upholstery in your new vehicle? Planning to do it with some off-the-shelf fabric protector spray (make sure it's ventilated, yadda-yadda) but aside from the normal caution does anyone have any other observations?

Ta!

I guess you could use Scotchguard.

An essential ingredient in Scotchguard and Teflon are a class of chemicals including PFOA or PFBS. These are in a group of highly toxic and cancer-causing chemicals which never break down or go away, cannot be destroyed, and build up in the environment, and even in your bloodstream. Do you really want to pay money to spray them round the inside of your nice new car?

To follow that - an easy way to get some sort of idea about it is to watch the law film ‘Dark Waters’ - which really is an excellent film (whether or not you are concerned about Teflon etc..). It’s on Netflix or prime iirc. Really worth a watch.

Good points, I’d thought it would be good to protect the fabric somehow, I guess in the absence of something less toxic it’s just a case of keeping it clean with the occasional more thorough job, but those cleaning products are probably no angels either :|
