Hi new to the forum and hope others have also tried accessing YouTube through Apple CarPlay?
After much research of being able to watch a movie or YouTube whilst waiting to charge
( not while driving) I have downloaded
“carbridge” on my iPhone I am told it also works with android which works well so why doesn’t CarPlay allow you to be able to do this without having to download 3rd party apps?

What a great question for Apple.

I expect it's to do with safety, and the legalities of at least some US states or countries.

I just watch on my phone and listen to it through the car speakers.

This is the opposite of Apple’s problem.

Android Auto doesn’t do what you want either without a third-party side-loaded piece of software. Hardware dongles also exist to do this.

Best to talk to Google about why the YouTube app doesn’t support CarPlay, and then talk to Google about why the Android YouTube app doesn’t support Android Auto either!

Google Maps and even YouTube Music both support CarPlay directly, perfectly happily.
